The one time I kicked my self for not taking a longer lens on the bus trip. "I will not be seeing any birds" 120mm is just not long enough but what a colour statement, moral of the story never say never..

They never stay still only time is when sunning them selves but sadly so short of MM it was not funny , HFF well past this weather all clouds and rain the next three weeks.

I tend to always carry 16mm -600mm to cover for every thing, did not take 150-600 this day. HFF always another day.

We don't have this bird, but a similar colour scheme is our kingfisher, which I have never been able to photograph..

they are so hard to find let alone capture but they do all have colour going for them real stand outs. how you would normaly see them.

They would have to be the hardest family of birds to try and take photos of they dont sit still . most cases I have lots of shot on 600mm of birds flying out of frame or not even in frame from focus to fire and I use back button focus as its faster. one day I will get lucky but I do have a few shots better than none at all.
