Its that time oF year again : Wine making
my extended family on my wife's side all make there own wine starting from grapes. i have for the time in the cafe done nothing on my own to make wine. this year i have spent 2 weeks helping to get grapes and start the process to make wine. This is Grenache grape from the swan valley boy did they taste so good ALMOST yes almost to good to make wine from but two months time will be a whole different story. RED WINE

Maria, Petar Bojić, Guido Werner, Sami Serola (inactive) and 7 other people have particularly liked this photo

Grapes and the process of make wein seems great. I would love to try once in my life. We have a lot of places in Italy, but not where I live.

In truth the process is quite simple if you follow the guidelines. the real benefit you know what is in the wine as you made it. as we keep the wine for only a years worth cooking or drinking we also make it chemical free. i learn more each time though from my brother in laws from there past. i hope you get the chance its well worth doing and enjoying as it is all about people.

I agree that Grenache grapes are good to eat. Used to snaffle them whilst grape picking in the S of France!

Brought back many very recent memories too, Peter, hic!
I have a few bots of Penfold's Grange in my Dad's cellar in Cornwall. One or two are probably just about ready (the 1999 and 2000) but they will keep for a while yet. Just as well as they are in Cornwall and I am in Spain!

I couldn't agree more, Steve!
BTW, please don't think that Penfold's Grange is my day-to-day tipple. I'm no millionaire!
(My parents were in the wine trade and occasionally, through contacts, some top notch wine used to come my way. Now, 3 euros a bottle is about my upper limit!)
:o)

I did wonder so i thought better not to comment on the Penfold's Grange will never be in my life time even a smell. mine limit is make it yourself or i would agree with you reasonable wines $10 here not quite 3 euro. enjoy a drink on me my friend.
