Owlfly on clothesline

Owlfly on clothesline
At first I thought it was a dragonfly, but is actually an owlfly. They raise their abdomens when at rest so they look like a twig.

Fascinating...........I've never seen or hear of one of these before. I like those extra-long antennae!

Every day is a school day on IP :-)

Thanks for the visit and comment, Keith. It's new to me, too. The antennae are one of their most distinguishing characteristics.

Thanks, Eva. My insect field guide has one picture of an owlfly. The Wikipedia has more information. Best wishes to you.
