Very nice; unfortunately you hardly see any more swallotail butterflies here .
In earlier times there used to be a lot of them. That´s very sad.

I am so sorry to hear that, Ingrid. Maybe they need more summer flowers and whatever their caterpillars eat.

I can Imagine that it is due to the decades of overfertilization (for example: glyphpsate)
Increasingly, only a few species can be seen even during the summer.
Only in the high mountains it is a little better.

This species is native to eastern North America only. I hope you can attract other butterflies to your garden.

Butterfly counting? I can imagine slogging through all sorts of difficult terrain. So far, I only count the ones near my house.

Ronald, these are the die-hard souls who can ID every Skipper butterfly .... one fellow told me "just keep at it -- you'll get them all" ..
Don't think that is going to happen -- I know about 5 kinds .. that is enough for my brain ~
