Ronald... I use a Kaufman guide for Butterflies.. and also for birds.

Go to Alibris the 2nd hand books people. Wonderful bargins and often new books at wonderful prices

A gorgeous image. The butterfly has beautiful colours and markings. I have been trying to turn my head sideways to see the bottom of the wings, - I like the 'eyes' and it looks like an owl! Have a good weekend

Thanks, Carol. Many butterflies have these "eye-spots". I have trouble imagining a bird stupid enough the mistake them for an owl. ;-) No doubt, some entomology graduate student has written a study on this. Best wishes.
