The black color around the eyes and neck gives him a serious look...
The gaze is extremely keen and he poses for the picture like a star!!

Thank you, Judite, for your comment. Here is a quote about the origin of its name:
"The most popular and most frequently sighted type of cardinal is the northern cardinal, which is native to North America. The male of the species sports a bright red plumage all over, including its crest. When the earliest European settlers on the North American continent discovered this native bird, it reminded them of the scarlet-colored cassocks and birettas of Catholic cardinals. This is how the cardinal earned its name."

Your PiP is superb Rashid, and your main picture is beautiful in every way. I love the expression you have captured and we have nothing as colourful here as a Cardinal.

Lovely capture of this inquisitive pose. I have been trying to photograph the cardinals in my neighborhood, but they insist upon hiding in the bushes.

Thank you, Esther. Yes, I know what you mean: it does take luck. As you say, birds always seem to hide behind the tree leaves. I find it easier to find them when the trees are bare. Also, the bright red of the male cardinals makes it much easier to spot them. Good luck!
