End of an era but still alive in my memory. Saw this as a little kid in the workshop where my Grandfather used to work. The hissing of steam, the noise of the hammers, the smell of oil and sweat......
seems like when we get older the memorys grow bigger.....

Yes, I agree with you; going to infant's school eons ago (just after the war) we used to pass a large cobblers, they too had these very large belt-driven wheels clattering away; the noise, and the smell of leather always comes to mind when I see pic's like this one.

As for memories, you're right; the happy days of childhood we tend to grasp closer, they are precious to us like old photo's, and we treasure them!
