Today's challenge: Negative or inverted photography. This entails reversing the colours of your image. I usually find inversion photos to be so unreal with horrible colours. The best choice of subject for me is something that is fairly abstract to begin with. I chose an ice puddle.

Ice puddle

Ian Wood, Nouchetdu38, Gabriella Siglinde, Au Cœur... diagonalhorizon and 44 other people have particularly liked this photo

Dreamy shot ~ That looks like a hand on the left and an open cast mine in the main body of the image and a plug hole top right, although probably an icy puddle in reality ~ it gets the mind working ~ Hanwe xx

Finding a fitting subject with colours that look good inverted was rather difficult, your choice is perfect! I think both original and inversion look equally good!

Nice abstract shots, Amelia. They look like NASA images of another world. LOL. Cheers, Joe

Very subtle, good point about using something abstract (and with muted colors) to produce a non-garish inversion.

Good abstract, make of it what you will. I first thought of a land image from an aircraft or even a satellite.

When I first saw this I thought it was an aerial view of one of the huge open cut mines we have here. Very well done, Amelia.

Amelia, this has got to be the nicest inversion I've ever seen! I am on the same page as you... I usually don't like them at all. Great idea to try this--the result is totally outstanding!!! SUPER JOB and SO SMART to learn this technique! :)

That`s interesting: such pastel tones bring only small differences from original to the inversion.
Both are fine abstracts.

A satellite image, probably Shropshire after the deluge, followed by a new ice age. I hope the inhabitants of Oswestry were all evacuated in time.
