Sherborne folly

Sherborne folly
This folly was built in the mid-18th century as part of a scheme to beautify the ruins of the Old Castle. The archives report that a local builder was paid £22 for building this folly, by Lord Digby who owned the New Castle..

Pat Del, Cämmerer zu Nau, Schussentäler, Pam J and 9 other people have particularly liked this photo

Follies seem to be so typically British;-) Our follies usually are real ruins:-)

Well captured.
£22 was probably quite a nice sum then.
