It was great weather to begin with, Doug, but deteriorated later. We walked all the way round to the Eden estuary, opposite Leuchars aerodrome. A couple of years beforer i managed to get 4 Eurofighter Typhoons in one photo. tThey have now been moved to Lossiemouth and Coningsby. I have seen them flying at Coningsby.

This is beautifully composed to show off both the sand (and it's lovely patterned and textures) and that gorgeous sky. The distant figures give a great sense of just how huge the beach is..!!

thank you, Reinhard. The only thing that spoils it is the caravan park on the hillside. It wasn't there when I lived in the town.

I'm so pleaded that someone has picked up on the Erskine Childers connection in the title, Lutz. :-))

I think your beach is probably even longer than this one.

thank you, Sasi. Ripples like this are really quite common on beaches with a shallow shelf, but I like them nevertheless.

Love the verticals of the ripple patterns with the horizontals of the sky!

isn't it just as well that the runners ran in the sea for the making of Chariots of fire, Gudrun? Running along these ripples would be most uncomfortable. ;-)
