ah, ok , the sooner/younger we learn something, the longer we will remember it .. (music, languages , chess , .... and driving tractors ;-)
the original saying in English is : "What is learned in the cradle is carried to the tomb." (but imho it has a slight flavour of morbidity ... )

Ah I get it now. Thanks for the clarification. I agree with everything you said. In Polish it sounds something like: "czym skorupka za młodu nasiąknie, tym na starość trąci" but this is a metaphor which is hard to explain. It's something like: "what shell soaked in his youth, that smacks of old age" but this is a google translation :-)
