finally starting to move my pictures from flickr

Monday February 4, 2008 at 12:49AM

(unfortunately without all the comments...)

Although flickr still is gonna remain my photo-home for now.

I realized very recently that it's pretty much a farce from flickr that one will not be able to see more than the last 200 photos, when the pro membership expires. They really expect you to pay each year for the rest of your (flickr-) life! Ok, it's a tactic to make money, but a very stupid tactic... not stupid in the sense of making money, but in the sense of respecting others......

I agree, Yves. What is the maximum amount of photographs can be posted in Ipernity before you need a pro account? I am glad that we are given some time to put heaps here before the 100% expands out. Flickr is in it to host but they got to keep making their profits I suppose. Unless someone generously buys you a pro account, you pretty much have to keep feeding dollars. So unfortunate. You are only given a certain amount each month as here if you are not on a pro account at flickr. They never gave me back my money for the accidentally submission of an additional year, so I am there with pro account until sometime in 2009. Oh well I suppose I should make the best of it. Just a shame. Most of the sites are going to require some form of additional pay to continue hosting your ability to post more volumes of your work. Maybe something better will come along and eat up FLickr.

Keisha, I don't think here's something like a maximum to post... otherwise if it shoud, it wouldn't be a better place than flickr neither. Yes, flickr surely keeps and keeps on making their profits... especially if it happens like in your case, or like in other cases (like I found on the forum), that accounts got deleted, on purpose or by others that phished these accounts. As I remember, flickr never compensated them. The bad thing for me with flickr, or also many others on flickr, is that I don't need the 1 GB per month by far!!! That's probably the size my whole stream on flickr needs... if at all.... and most my pictures are not so large. If I would need so much space, I would find it ok to pay...

Btw, it's strange here... people only seem to watch my pictures, but hardly dare to comment or fave (apart from a few exceptions), no wonder that I prefer flickr...
