8/31/86 1st ENCOUNTER: FISSURE Humpback Whale

In the summers of 1986 and 1987 I worked as Naturalist on a whale watch boat in Kennebunkport Maine. Our daily trips out to Jeffreys' Ledge allowed for many encounters with many whales but a young Humpback male named Fissure is the one that captured my heart. Three encounters stand out and I will recount them here.
