I spent two nights in the hospital and everything went well during that time. I came home to a loving and attentive husband and daughter. Our cat was happy to have me back in the bed so she could lay close to me.

Everything has been healing as it should. Doctors and nurses said my progress is the best they've ever seen.

Then, late yesterday afternoon I received a phone call frm my surgeon, Dr. Gunn. He explained that every time they do a biopsy, they leave a tiny titanium clip in the tissues so they can find where they've been. When I had my biopsy last January, a small clip was left there to mark the location of the cancer. I have been aware that this is the procedure they use for a long time. This time, we have a problem. They removed both breasts and all the lymph nodes from the right side. Pathology has gone over the tissues again and again -- they can't find the titanium clip. It has to be found because if the clip is in my body, so is the cancer. On Thursday, I will be having another operation. Tomorrow I meet with Dr. Gunn to go over particulars. He says that in 25 years of practice, he has never run into this problem. They are bringing in Dr. Gerrity (who did the biopsy) and she will retrace her steps. Once the clip/cancer is found, they will put me under full anesthesia and remove what needs to be removed. I really can't wrap my head around this new turn of events ...
