I was sitting at my fathers computer helping him write a blog. In that cause I visited my site and guess what. The number 10,000 showed up. So the 10,000th visitor was actually me.

Es ist doch eine besondere Zahl!

Vielen Dank für all Eure Besuche, Favoriten und Kommentare! Es bereitet mir große Freude meine Bilder und Gedanken mit Euch zu teilen!

Witzig ist, wer der 10.000ste Besucher war.

Ich saß am Rechner meines Vaters, um ihm bei einem Blogeintrag zu helfen. Dabei schaute ich auf meiner Seite vorbei, und Ihr ahnt es schon, die Zahl 10.000 erschien. Ich war also mein eigener 10.000ster Besucher.

Diese Woche hat mich Mario aus dem DSLR-Forum angesprochen. Er hat eine neue Seite lifestyle-network.eu gestartet, auf der er unter anderem Fotografen die Gelegenheit gibt sich kurz vorzustellen.

Da ihm meine Bilder so gut gefallen, hat er mich angeschrieben, ob ich mich nicht auch dort vorstellen möchte. Ich fühlte mich sehr geehrt, und habe auch gleich zugesagt.

Allerdings fand ich es dann sehr schwierig, eine solche Vorstellung selber zu schreiben. Heute morgen bin ich dann auf folgende drei Sätze gekommen, die meine Motivation aus meiner Sicht sehr gut beschreiben.

Meine Kamera ist mein Werkzeug, mit dem ich meine Gefühle „zu Papier“ bringe.	„Ein Bild sagt mehr als tausend Worte.“ In meinen Bildern drücke ich aus, was ich nicht in Worte zu fassen vermag.

Ich nehme auf, was mich bewegt. Und freue mich über jeden, den meine Bilder bewegen.

This week I was contacted by Mario from the DSLR-Forum. He started a new web page lifestyle-network.eu where he offers among others photographers the chance to introduce themselves.

Since he likes my pictures, he asked me whether I wanted to introduce myself there as well. I felt honoured and agreed.

But then it was quite difficult to me o find the right words for such an introduction. Then this morning I found the following three sentences that in my opinion describe my motivation quite well.

My camera is my tool to put my feelings down "on paper".	"A picture tells more than a thousand words." In my pictures I express that which I cannot put in words.

I capture all that touches me. And I am happy for all, who are touched by that.

There are a lot of photographers here on Ipernity. So I'm glad to introduce the sculptor Ralf Zickermann. He lives and works in Pirna and his main theme for his scultptures are scenes and figures from the book The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov.

Es gibt sehr viele Fotografen hier bei Ipernity. Deshalb bin ich froh den Bildhauer Ralf Zickermann vorzustellen. Er lebt und arbeitet in Pirna und das Hauptthema für seine Skulpturen sind Szenen und Figuren aus dem Buch Der Meister und Margarita von Mikhail Bulgakov.

I thought I'd share my thoughts on frames with you. I quite made up my mind. But perhaps you might be interested in my motivation.

Ich habe mir gedacht, ich teile mal meine Gedanken mit, die ich zum Thema Rahmen habe. Mir ist inzwischen klarer geworden was ich möchte. Und vielleicht interessiert es Euch ja, was ich denke.

Why I use frames?

The main reason for me using frames is that I don't like random content just next to my pictures. Since I can't and don't want to control the content directly around my pictures, I use frames to get some "empty" space around my pictures.

Another reason is the perception of colors. Usually a picture simply looks better on a dark backdrop whereas here everything is mainly white.

The last reason for using frames to me is to make my pictures a bit more recognisable among all the other pictures here. My pictures will always have a signature in the corner and a frame. That way making them a bit harder to reuse. (Yes, I know that this is no real protection, but at least it may stop simple copy and paste actions.)

Warum nutze ich Rahmen überhaupt?

Mein Hauptgrund Rahmen zu nutzen ist der unkontrollierbare Inhalt direkt neben meinen Bildern. Da ich diese Inhalte um meine Bilder herum weder kontrollieren kann noch möchte, erzeuge ich Rahmen, die etwas "Freiraum" um meine Bilder schaffen.

Ein weiterer Grund ist die Wahrnehmung von Farben. Normalerweise wirkt ein Bild vor einem dunklen Hintergrund besser, während hier weiß ja vorherrscht.

Der letzte Grund Rahmen zu nutzen ist der Wiedererkennugswert zwischen all den anderen Bildern hier. Meine Bilder haben alle eine Signatur in der Ecke und einen Rahmen. Dadurch ist es zumindest etwas schwerer sie wiederzuverwenden. (Ja, ich weiß dass das kein echter Schutz ist, aber zumindest einfaches Copy & Paste wird dadurch gebremst.)

Die Rahmen, die ich verwend(et)e

Angefangen habe ich mit schlichten schwarzen Rahmen:

But then I then I found them to be to boring, and often a little too dark.

So I switched to similar frames, but with a dark grey version of the picture as a backdrop:

Die wurden mir allerdings zu langweilig und oft auch zu dunkel.

Deswegen bin ich zu ähnlichen Rahmen gewechselt, allerdings mit einer dunkleren grauen Version des Bildes als Hintergrund.

This got me off playing with frames leading to the colorful frames most of my pictures have, the frst being this one:

Das hat mich zum Spielen verleitet, was zu den farbenfrohen Rahmen geführt hat, die die meisten meiner Bilder zieren. Hier das Erste:

For some very grafical works this still is fine. But in general I want to go back to darker frames that don't draw as much attention but instead raise the focus more to the picture itself. Like with this one:

Für einige eher grafische Werke ist das immer noch das richtige. Aber generell möchte ich wieder zu dunkleren Rahmen zurückkommen, die nicht soviel Aufmerksamkeit auf sich ziehen, sondern statdessen das eigentliche Bild stärker herausstellen. So wie bei diesem:
