10 Days in Martha's Vineyard

Thursday July 12, 2007 at 12:43AM

What could be better than 10 beautiful days spent in one of New England's finest places? We got back late Saturday night from 10 days on the island of Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts. What a gorgeous place! We were given the opportunity to stay at a house owned by a friend of ours. They usually rent it out, but we were able to rent it last week. The house was AMAZING! 5 bedrooms (two of which are master bedroom suites with bathrooms, 4 1/2 bathrooms, living room, dining room, large eat-in kitchen, entertainment room, huge deck off the eating area of the kitchen, roof deck with views of the Rhode Island Sound, the Elizabeth Islands and New Bedford, MA in the distance.

Totally gorgeous!

Oh Barbara, it was! Even the two days we where we had rainy weather wasn't bad. The whole family was able to make it. It was great.

I haven't been to Martha's Vineyard since the summer of 1983! We went on a day trip there, rented a moped, and drove all around the island. Ah, to be young and carefree. :)

I've always thought about it as being a mythical place in a foreign country. I'm not sure if I would ever want to visit there or to let it continue to be a mythical place. I know I'd be very disappointed if it turned out to be even mildly touristy.
Love that picture above.

Thesea, there are definitely places that are touristy, but there are so many more magically mythical places. I have more photos over at that other site. It is a wonderful place to get lost in.
