It's been a little more than a month since I retired from over 30 years in my career as a librarian/high school librarian and it's been a roller coaster.
We have sold our house in a nightmarish market. We lowered the price 4 times and got enuf out of this house to move to Massachusetts where we found a very nice house in a semi rural town surrounded by the 5 colleges...so there will be sophisticated people, galleries ,restaurants, hiking etc.
I have mixed feelings leaving the NY/NJ area as I get homesick and I am a Native New Yawker.
I can root for the Boston Red Sox even as I continue to root for my NY Mets.
Our son and his gf live within 2 hours from the new house which cuts the distance in half.
People wonder why we moved to a colder area. They imagine getting away from the cold, the snow. We think Florida is crowded, mosquito ridden and basically not our cup of tea.
I don't fly and we have animals so in order to be close to our son Massachusetts made all the sense in the world.
