I've reviewed many alternatives to my Flickr so far and haven't had much luck since then.
So can anyone out there tell me how this thing works? I find myself getting more or more interested in a pro account and I obviously get the limits (1000 MB a month and so on), but what about storage in total? Can I max those 1000 MB a month and next year in June, I'd have 12 GB of pictures here or are they deleted over time?
Also, are there any guarantees that when "shit starts flying" I will at least have a safety harbor for my pictures aka backups, or should I buy that somewhere else?
Where is the API, and where are groups? Are they coming soon? :-)

the api is under development, they have even implemented a few flickr api compatibility functions. you can get a sample application here: ipernityfox. the available uploaders use the api too...
further i think you can't be sure to have a safe harbour forever anywhere!

I received all the info about the Flickr API.
What I couldn't figure out is this:
a) How can I get more "upload" - my initial import would exceed pro.
b) Do you save all resolutions of the image - also the original?
Carstenpro replies:
What do you mean by b)?
