We need members translating from English or French or Esperanto.

Requirements:
- mother-tongue in one of the targeted languages
- perfectly fluent in English or French or Esperanto
- aged 18+
- ideally, experienced in translation and a good practice of internet and social sharing sites.

We give PRO accounts to volunteers and honor them in our Thanks page.

Dear friends,

As you know, we are still working on releasing the ipernity API. Almost 80% is done but it's time consuming and while working on this project, we cannot progress on other improvements and new features (remember we are only 2 programmers). So we decided to make a short coffee-break last week to complete one of our "secret" projects ;)... BitTorrent!

As from now, ipernity proposes a solution to share voluminous contents such as full-lenght personal videos or entire folders of thousands photos, using BitTorrent peer-to-peer protocol and the new ipernity tracker.

For those who don't know anything about BitTorrent and how to use it, there are dozens of tutorials on the net. Of course, we won't let you down: Lea is writing a new FAQ entry and will put it online in a couple of days.

How does it work?

-- from ipernity, go to the upload page: you'll find a new "BitTorrent" section and your personal ipernity tracker URL. Keep this address in mind.

-- from your computer, open your BitTorrent client and make a .torrent of the file(s) you want to share, specifying your personal ipernity tracker. Then start seeding this torrent to make it active.

-- from ipernity, go back to the upload page, BitTorrent section, and import your .torrent file in your ipernity space

-- that's all!

Your .torrent file is considered as a doc in ipernity. You'll find it in "your docs" page, "others" section. Like all the other docs, it can be added to albums, posted in groups, faved, commented, tagged... and of course you can decide who can access your .torrent (friends, family or every members).

On the .torrent doc page, you'll find specific information: torrent status, seeds/leechers, name and size of source file(s)...

Authorized members who want to leech your content must download the related .torrent file and open it with a BitTorrent client. Of course you must keep your .torrent file active until at least one leecher completed the download.

We hope that solution will give you more ways to share personal videos and 100MB+ contents.

ipernity is proud to enable the first social mashup of the brand new Google Translate API.

Members and visitors can now request "on the fly" translations of posts, comments, discussions, descriptions, iperMails... written in foreigner languages*.

Translation is made from/into 23 languages*. Of course, automated translation is not perfect but we are convinced it brings ipernity members and visitors a real added value for a global understanding.

Thanks to this new feature, ipernity becomes the first social internet media facilitating exchanges between people from various horizons ;-)

(*) Arabic, Bulgarian, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish. Esperanto and Catalan are not yet supported by Google Translate. We'll add these languages as soon as we find translation services with free API use.

[EN] PicLens is a cool plugin transforming your browser into a full-screen, 3D experience for online photos and videos. See a demo here.

We'd love to make ipernity fully compliant with PicLens. It would give members and their visitors the possibility to view photos streams, photos albums, even photos posted in groups... on a 3D full screen black wall. Klass!

We implemented a basic RSS-based integration of PicLens, allowing for instance to view through PicLens the last 20 posted public photos of one member. You can try by installing PicLens plugin, then going on a "member docs" page, then dragging your mouse onto one picture, then clicking the arrow icon.

1. You can now rearrange your docs stream!
How does it work? By simply changing the posted date. You can edit this date document by document (through one doc page), or using the DocManager.

2. We changed the sharpening algorithm to make it smoother. Older photo thumbnails will be automatically regenerated in a few days. You'll understand better by reading Alan's post.

3. You can now permanently link the originals outside ipernity. We previously provided temporary links.

Wie es funktioniert? Durch ganz einfaches Ändern des „Veröffentlicht“-Datums. Sie können dieses Datum entweder Dokument für Dokument oder über den DocManager ändern.

2. Wir haben den Schärfungs-Algorithmus etwas weicher gemacht. Ältere Vorschaubilder werden in ein paar Tagen automatisch neu generiert. Um dies Besser zu verstehen, lesen sie Alans Beitrag.

3. Sie können die Originalbilder nun auch von außerhalb ipernitys dauerhaft verlinken. Bisher haben wir nur temporäre Links bereitgestellt.

Comment ça marche ? En changeant simplement la date d'import. Vous pouvez modifier cette date document par document (à partir de la page principale d'un document), ou en utilisant le DocManager.

2. Nous avons modifié l'algorithme de netteté (sharpness) pour produire des images plus douces. Nous allons appliquer cet algorithme aux photos déjà publiées dans quelques jours. Vous comprendrez mieux en lisant l'article d'Alan.

3. Vous pouvez désormais utiliser des liens permanents sur les originaux en dehors d'ipernity. Nous fournissions auparavant des liens temporaires.

1. U kunt nu zelf de volgorde van uw dokumenten bepalen !
Hoe werkt dat : verander eenvoudig de datum van invoer. Je kunt zo dokument per dokument behandelen of gebruik maken van de Docmanager.

2. Het algorithme van de scherpheid (sharpness) is gewijzigd om zachtere foto's te tonen. De reeds bestaande dokumenten, worden binnen enige dagen gegenereerd. Voor meer duidelijkheid , zie Alan's bijdrage.

3. U kunt nu ook permanente links voor uw dokumenten, buiten Ipernity toepassen. Wij leveren de tijdelijke links op voorhand.

1. Ora potete riordinare le vostre foto e documenti!
Come funziona? Semplicemente modificando la data di caricamento. Potete modificarla documento per documento, o usando il DocManager.

2. Abbiamo cambiato l'algoritmo di sharpening (affilamento, nitidezza) per renderlo più morbido. Le miniature delle vecchie foto verranno automaticamente rigenerate nel corso dei prossimi giorni. Capirete meglio leggendo questo articolo di Alan.

3. Ora potete avere dei link permanenti agli originali dei vostri documenti fuori di Ipernity. Precedentemente vi fornivamo solo dei link temporanei.

Publish them with one click in your ipernity space, using Shozu application ;-)

How to do this?

1) Go to your ipernity Preferences page, "Upload & blog by email" section
You'll find an email address like something@doc.ipernity.com. Keep it with you.

2) Go to www.shozu.com and create your account.

3) Add ipernity in your sites list ("MyShozu" tab / "Add a site" button).
Name for this site: ipernity
To email addresses: something@doc.ipernity.com (the email given in step1)

4) check if ipernity is your "one-click site" (otherwise click on "change one-click site")

That's all for the web settings. You must now install Shozu application on your cameraphone.

5) Open a browser on your mobile phone and go to this site:
m.shozu.com
Then click download Shozu, select your mobile and install Shozu application.

6) Close your browser, launch Shozu for the first time on your cameraphone, then sign-in (with login information you gave in step 2)

That's all!

As for now, when you take a picture/video with your cameraphone, you'll be automatically proposed to publish it in your ipernity space!

Have fun!

Das sind alle nötigen Internet Einstellungen. Sie müssen nun die Shozu Software auf Ihrem Kamerahandy installieren.

5) Öffnen Sie einen Browser auf Ihrem Handy and gehen Sie auf folgende Seite:
m.shozu.com
Dann klicken Sie "Download shozu", wählen Ihr Handymodell aus und installieren die Shozu Software.

6) Schließen Sie Ihren Browser auf dem Handy, starten die Shozu Software zu ersten Mal und melden sich an (mit den in Schritt 2 von Ihnen erstellten Anmeldeinformationen)

Das war schon alles!

Von nun an, wenn Sie mit Ihrem Kamerahandy ein Foto/Video machen, wird Ihnen automatisch vorgeschlagen, dieses in Ihrem ipernity zu veröffentlichen.

¿Cómo lo hago?

1) Ve a tu página de preferencias de Ipernity, sección "Sube ficheros y bloguea por correo electrónico"
Encontrarás una dirección parecida a cualquiercosa@doc.ipernity.com. Tenla a mano, luego la usaremos.

2) Desde tu ordenador ve a www.shozu.com, y crea una cuenta allí

3) Añade ipernity a tu lista de sites (Pestaña "MyShozu" / "Add a site").
Nombre de éste sitio (quizá aparezca en inglés): ipernity
Dirección de correo (quizá también aparezca en inglés): loquesea@doc.ipernity.com (esa dirección de correo que cogiste en el paso 1 del comentario)

4) Comprueba que ipernity es tu "one-click site" (si no es así pulsa en "change one-click site" para que lo sea)

Todo lo que hacer en el ordenador está hecho. Ahora ve a tu teléfono móvil (siempre con cámara) y sigue los pasos siguientes. Comentar, mejor hacerlo con el navegador nativo que con otros navegadores como Opera Mini.

5) Abre el navegador de tu móvil y ve a éste site, escribiendo la dirección correspondiente:
m.shozu.com
Pulsa sobre "Download Shozu", selecciona tu modelo de teléfono móvil e instala la aplicación cuando se descargue.

6) Cierra el navegador de tu teléfono, abre Shozu por primera vez en tu teléfono (busca en la carpeta de Aplicaciones o similar), e inicia sesión con la información que diste en el segundo paso de éste how-to.

Eso es todo, amigos.

Desde ahora, cuando tomes una foto o un video con tu móvil, podrás sublrla a ipernity con este estupendo programa.

[EN] ipernity supports Art in all its forms, and aims to be more and more involved in Art exhibitions and contests.

We started in April 2008, sponsoring the Cap3000 photo contest. Some pictures here.

We support today the 6th CARI art contest and exhibition

CARI is a building company strongly involved in Sustainable Development and Art. It organizes each year a contest open to all forms of Art. The thema is "Building tomorrow together". CARI gives the chance to all the winners to be promoted one year long in its headquarter, and uses to buy the winner work.

Lea d'ipernity is member of the 6th edition jury who selected a few days ago 5 winners among 46 artists. We also offered a PRO account to all the winners.

The big winner is Nans Quétel, with the following installation.

[FR] ipernity soutient l'Art sous toutes ses formes, et tient à s'impliquer de plus en plus dans les concours et les expositions artistiques.

Nous avons commencé en avril 2008 par un partenariat de sponsoring dans le cadre du Concours photo Cap3000. Quelques photos ici.

Nous soutenons aujourd'hui et sommes partenaire du 6ème Prix CARI .

CARI est une entreprise de construction fortement impliquée dans le Développement Durable et l'Art. Elle organise chaque année un concours ouvert à toutes les formes d'Art. Le thème est "Ensemble Construisons Demain". CARI offre la possibilité aux gagnants d'être exposés toute une annnée dans son siège, et fait l'acquisition d'une ou de plusieurs oeuvres gagnantes.

Lea d'ipernity est membre du jury de la 6ème édition. Le jury s'est réunit il y a quelques jours et a sélectionné 5 gagnants parmi 46 artistes.

Le grand gagnant est Nans Quétel, avec l'installation présentée sur la photo ci-dessus.

As for now, people having a Yahoo!ID or OpenID, Facebook members and Orange subscribers can use their login information to connect ipernity. ipernity members, go to your Preferences / Connexion page for further details. Not yet registered? That way!

We are still focused on the ipernity API and hope to open it to programmers in the next days. We should modify our technical architecture and it was time consuming. That's the reason why we are a little bit late on this project.

As we told you last time, Portuguese translation is finished and our new FAQ also. For technical reasons, we'll put online everything when we release the API.

After that, we'll go back to your wishes and we'll do our best to fulfill the most popular ones (yes we know: collections, rearranging albums and streams, password protected albums, homepages customization, exploration...;-))))

Ab Sofort können sich Leute, die eine Yahoo!ID oder einen OpenID-Account haben, ebenso wie Facebook-Mitglieder und Orange-Abonnenten mit ihren jeweiligen Login-Daten auch bei ipernity einloggen. ipernity-Mitglieder gehen für weitere Informationen auf ihre Einstellungen/Anmeldemanager-Seite. Noch nicht registriert? Hier lang!

Wir konzentrieren uns weiterhin auf die ipernity-API und hoffen, sie in den nächsten Tagen den Entwicklern zugänglich machen zu können. Wir haben unsere Technik geändert, was sehr zeitaufwändig war. Dies ist auch der Grund, weshalb wir mit diesem Projekt etwas hinter dem Zeitplan sind. Wie letztes Mal schon angekündigt, sind die portugiesische Übersetzung sowie die neue FAQ nun fertig. Aus technischen Gründen werden wir alles erst online schalten, wenn wir die API veröffentlichen.

[FR] Voici les nouvelles de la semaine...

Les détenteurs d’une identité Yahoo! ou OpenID, les membres de Facebook et les abonnés Orange peuvent désormais utiliser leurs identifiants à ces services pour se connecter à ipernity.
Si vous êtes déjà membre d'ipernity, rendez-vous dans vos Préférences de connexion pour plus d'information. Pas encore inscrit ? C'est par là !

Nous sommes toujours focalisés sur l'API et espérons l'ouvrir aux programmeurs dans les tous prochains jours. Il a fallu revoir notre architecture technique et cela nous a pris un certain temps. C'est la raison pour laquelle nous avons pris un peu de retard sur ce projet.

Nous vous l'avions annoncé l'autre fois : la traduction en portugais est achevée et notre nouvelle FAQ aussi. Pour des raisons techniques, nous mettrons tout cela en ligne au même moment que l'API.

Après cela, nous reviendrons vers vos souhaits et tenterons d'exaucer les plus demandés (oui, nous les connaissons ;-) : collections, possibilités de mieux organiser les albums et le flux de document, protection par mot de passe, personnalisation des pages d'accueil, exploration.... ;-))))
