Translation: more volunteers needed!

Thursday October 1st, 2009 at 09:15AM

Hello all!

We are working on 10 more languages and 2 new ipernity versions for mobile phones.

Translation is made online by volunteers through a specific extranet.

We need more volunteers! We offer PRO accounts to people who help us and we put their name on the ipernity Thanks page!

Languages

  • English
  • Spanish
  • Portuguese (Portugal)
  • Portuguese (Brazil)
  • Danish
  • Swedish
  • Norwegian
  • Finnish
  • Hungarian
  • Polish
  • Japanese
  • Russian
  • Icelandic

Requirements

  • mother-tongue in one of the targeted languages
  • fluent in English or French
  • aged 18+
  • ideally, experienced in translation and a good practice of internet and social web sites.

If you want to join our translation team and to help us opening new doors to ipernity for more diversity, please contact us.

Many thanks by advance to all the participants.

Your ipernity Team

Ahhh!!!
...2 new ipernity versions for mobile phones???

Are you going to support ANDROID a.k.a the Google phone (HTC Magic)?

Team ipernitypro replies:
We'll release both a version for wap browsers used by basic phones and a more featured version for javascript / css compliant browsers used by iPhones and other smartphones.

It should work on your Android phone ;-)

OKAY :-) good news

I recently got mine and already tested ipernity and flickr (who have an ANDROID-GUI).
Ipernity works already but I am looking forward to the specific mobile version =o)

flash is not yet supported by the OS but afaik Adobe and Android-community are working on a specific flash version... the slideshows and videos do not work...
...until the update for the Androd flash player is released in october 09.
I'll keep you updated ;-)

„Ipernity“ does not sound good in Russian; I doubt how it might be popular because of that.

Anĉjo PacHorano (Andrea Fontana) says:
Why Esperanto disappeared as a work-language for the translations?
Esperantists yet worked hard for new languages in Ipernity, using Esperanto as their work-/bridge-language, isn't it? (for example, the chineese version was entirely made by esperantists, using Esperanto...)

Of course, translation can be made from Esperanto too.

...a co čeština? Ta není také zajímavá? Tu bych oželel, ale že neuvádíte esperanto, to mi je líto!...

I still use Paul Peeraerts' translations in Esperanto to help me in my translations into Spanish. I think it would be quite a few of Hungarians, Brazilians and Poles ready to translate into their languages from Esperanto, and who knows? also Finns and Japanese.

I would like to have a go, together with my husband, translating to Swedish. We have translated a similar Photography website to Swedish a few months ago....but the translation was done and sent as a document and not directly online....Don´t know if we handle it, but would love to try!

I would like to read in your News section a statement how you will handle the censorship issue ( http://www.ipernity.com/blog/herr_k/206087 - http://www.ipernity.com/blog/frauk/205595 ) in future.
This is more important than mobilephone gimmicks.
Many users are in Ipernity because they went from Flickr because of their censorship behavior.
Will we experience the same here?
