Annie and I were reorganising the storage space in the built in wardrobes....we knew there was a box containing slides from Annies worldly travels, before we met. She lived in Brunei for some time and visited places such as Hong Kong, America, Dubai and other exotic places. I had not seen any of the slides so was quite excited when I we opened the lid.....not only did the box contain the slides but also a neat slide viewer, which I can use to view my slides as well as Annies, got to say my slides are not as well organised as hers......but I actually love the scratches and dust that accumulates over the years. Its like looking through a time window, just that the light that travels from the old slides has been trapped and can now be realeased by the magic of light. It always fascinated me wondering whether the cave paintings at Lascaux ever existed before the guy who discovered them actually shone a torch onto them and the reflected light from the surface traveled into his eyes ?

The thing about Annies box is that it not only contains slides from her travels but also letters written by her Grandfather to his wife during the Second World War, he died somewhere in the African Desert. And then there are the old BW snap shots of Family members through the years...........Total Magic, all from one box in the top of a wardrobe...........

Rediscovered an old guitar, the second acoustic guitar I bought, about nine years ago. The first one was a three quarter acoustic guitar that I bought on a whim from a junk shop around the same time. I taught myself to play the guitar on these two instruments. When I was young I bought an Electric Guitar also from a second hand shop.....its fate was to reside under my bed until I resold it, the reason for this being that I didnt even try to learn to play, because in my head I thought that I would never be able to play like Hendrix...............Im glad my head changed, but also wish I had started to learn all those years ago. As I was saying I pulled out this old guitar the other day, it has 5 strings and one of these should be on a steel strung guitar, this ones a classical, I tuned it up and fell in love, its quirky dosnt sound exactly right.........in fact to me its perfect. Will have to post some of my meagre offerings for anyone who wants to listen, .........and if no one does then in the immortal words of my friend Josie Soho "Its not important who reads this blog its more important that I write it"...swap Blog for Guitar and you get my drift.
