It's been wet today...not pouring with rain wet but a heavy drizzle which is almost as nasty. I spent the entire morning asleep, which only serves to make me cross and grouchy when I think of the time wasted...and that was on top of sleeping all night.
But then I complained the other day because Bobby had been dreaming most of the night and had kept me awake with his woofing and heavy sighing and then he scratches his paws on the floor...thinks he's running I suppose. That same night Eilis was restless and snored fit to burst and then lay on her back with her tongue hanging out making snuffling noises...I kept poking and prodding her but she was oblivious...
She's a bit thick is Eilis...she finds my hot-water bottle and plonks herself down on the bedcovers right on top of it...then she gets too hot and begins to pant for all she's worth but doesn't move...so she's growing hotter and hotter while my feet are frozen solid and no amount of kicking her will persuade her to move over a bit...
Thank heavens Millie has never attempted sleeping on the bed or on the settee with me...she's still stuffing herself into the antique baby's crib...she's too fat really to fit comfortably and she tends to leave her back legs hanging over the end, she has the night time routine off pat...as soon as Himself comes out of the bathroom and switches the kitchen light off, Millie heaves herself out of the dog bed and trots into the bedroom... there's a thud as she jumps into the crib and then all is quiet until morning.
In the days when I had proper house cats, one used to sleep practically on my head...I'd wake up with a mouthful of fur and a hot head...that cat had kittens before we could get her spayed and she used to carefully stuff each kitten down beside me under the covers...I'd fish them out and drop them into the cats box...she'd promptly pick them up and put them back...we could have carried on like that all night but I grew tired of the game before she did, and used to put up with her precious babies gasping for air under a layer of blankets...
It's a long weekend because of May Day...doesn't make any difference to us...always better to stay at home on Bank Holiday weekends 'cos of the vast numbers of people out and about...
