Quite a nice day all in all...not weatherwise 'cos it's rained...but it was mild enough.
Had my hair cut this morning...extremely short all over so all I have to do is rub a hand over my head and it looks done, but needed a shower as soon as I came home 'cos of all the little sharp bits which had wriggled down my back...they do itch so.
Then I needed to speak to some American people...now I'm used to the Irish way of treating you like a long lost friend...the Irish are sort of cuddly as well, and actually can be a bit alarming I suppose if you're not used to being enveloped in a bear hug by casual acquaintances'...but that comes across on the 'phone as well...those Americans were rather sombre and I honestly couldn't imagine any of them greeting me with a hug...rather standoffish actually. And Irish people use your name constantly in conversations...the Americans didn't seem to care what I called myself...could have said it was The Queen of Sheba and they'd not have been bothered.
We've come to the decision to let Henry and Christy go to another home...they are big and strong and Himself is finding them difficult to manage...they have to be moved from one grazing to another throughout the summer months you see.
But Sue at the donkey sanctuary came up trumps with a man who has had to give up his cattle and wants donkeys instead...so I 'phoned him and he seems pleasant enough...his daughter is coming home from Australia and once she's settled back at home again he's going to come over and meet the two lads...if I don't like him then they aren't going...Sue is going to help him with the passports and micro-chipping...just as well 'cos I don't have a clue. All equines have to have proof of where they've been now so they are fully traceable.
And he'll have to have a field shelter for them as well...
We'll be keeping the old boys of course...they can't walk any faster than I can...
Had another look on Ancestry this afternoon and found a woman who was accused of piracy...she and her husband sent their servants down to the beach to plunder ship wrecks and then they stored the loot in their fortified manor house. It was Queen Elizabeth 1st who had her arrested but her sons paid a huge bribe and she was released...the photograph is of her daughter-in-law who was also in on the proceeds of the robberies from the ship wrecks...there isn't a picture of the main villain ...I haven't found one yet anyway...
They were my ancestors...remote mind you...but still relatives.
Away to the hospital tomorrow for that feckin' breathing test...can't put it off any longer 'cos they are getting a bit cross with me after so many missed appointments...
