I'll do it this way, but forgive me if I forget your comment...
Gracie...Kevin said it'd take him about three days 'cos he works on his own...though Himself can give him a hand should he need one...he's putting something called storm wall up on the walls because they are too crooked and bent for tiles...it's a sort of plastic sheeting. Our bathroom is quite big anyway...it'll be even bigger when the bath has gone!
Bernie...I'd be plodding past Albrecht Durer's house every single day actually...absolutely love his paintings and drawings and to think he lived so long ago...
Peggy...you are more than welcome...I'm pleased you enjoy the blogs...I like writing them!
Jenny...castles and ruins and the old monasteries...like the ancient burial grounds...are a passion of mine. It's easy enough to acquire the information from books and museums and all those quare fellows we meet when we are out and about...one man spent ages telling us about the king who is buried in the abbey at Roscommon...we sat on the old tombstones and listened. It was his passion you see.
Chris...I disliked the Tower of London but was seeing it from a different angle to yourself...all I could think of was the poor souls locked away chained to the walls in the dungeons...and we were rushed past the Crown jewels so fast we hardly caught even a glimpse of them.
Robert...the history of America goes way back to pre-history actually...not counting the Viking explorers and the Native American Indians whose country and home it was long before the White man blundered in bringing pestilence and racist ideas with him...
Stormlizard...you are right of course that castles and the way they were run was much the same the world over in the early and later Middle Ages...it must have worked then!
Max...paddling about in a little boat eyeing up the fattest swan would have been a rather nice job...better than a tanner anyway! The toilets in castles were called garderobes...and went straight into the moat...apart from the urine which was saved up...would have accounted for the fat fish I suppose.
I hope I haven't missed anyone...if I have, then please forgive me...Himself is dishing up supper and I'd better fly...
