Was all settled and comfy ready to watch the programme I mentioned yesterday...digging up bodies...and it was one of those daft Time Team specials. Just can't be doing with them...Tony Robinson walking on the beach...then the cliffs... then the dunes...talking non-stop all the while, when the cameraman could have had the good grace to peer over the shoulder of someone on their hands and knees to see who they were excavating...
So I switched it off...which is also known as cutting off ones nose etc...
The recent heavy rains have exposed what is thought to have been a Bronze Age burial ground...it's actually on a beach somewhere in Northumberland so there is a degree of urgency involved to salvage as much as possible before the spring tides either wash the bones away or cover them in deep layers of sand again...
Here in Ireland a six hundred year old castle had to be demolished after the constant rain and gale force winds had simply made the structure too dangerous to leave as it was...
And I was soo green with envy when two women out dog walking on a beach here on the west coast, found a small stash of beautiful Neolithic axe heads...they had also been exposed during the bad weather.
All we've come across is mud.
