It has been a quiet day here in our little cottage on the edge of a bog...we woke to a heavy covering of snow and the silence which comes with it...as though the world is muffled somehow.
I'd been prepared to do the grocery shopping today but one look out of the window and the thought of breathing in icy air and I swiftly changed my mind...we'll go tomorrow instead and serve me right if it's even worse than today.
So I stuffed all the bird feeders with nuts and ground up cheese and breadcrumbs and some suet...not proper suet...don't think it's on sale anymore 'cos it's thought awful bad for us, so this is vegetarian suet and some sultanas and a dab of butter to hold it altogether and that went on the bird table where a flock of Chaffinches descended immediately and had a squabble over the best bits.
Then I retreated into my shed...ought to have done some washing actually and the sitting room floor is in need of a vacuuming but it'll wait until tomorrow. I finished a bag I don't like in the very least...it's horrid and I wouldn't buy it so it'll have to become a visual aid on 'how not to make a bag'...
So I began another one in black and white and I used the basting spray which is feckin brilliant...and that's going to be a good little bag.
I so want to try out the fastening thingy I bought in the craft shop...it's like an extra powerful snap fastener and you have to hammer them in place...I quite like hammering stuff actually.
Himself went to the shop and bought a big bag of potatoes and then took the dogs for a walk and met Wendy and Jason just back from shopping...Jason is working until twelve tonight which is just plain silly...he's a manager at Harvey Norman which sells electrical goods...computers and so on and the place is heaving with people buying Christmas presents ...until twelve at night?
Now I'm just waiting for supper to cook...liver, onions, bacon and mushroom casserole for him...pasta and cheese for me...
It's stopped snowing but there is a sharp frost tonight...roll on the mild Spring days...
