Well I never...I was prowling about on Ancestry at lunchtime adding one or two people when a familiar name came up...Sir Richard Empson, the man who had the dubious honour of being the first to be beheaded by Henry V111...you'll remember I wrote of him before when I found he was Teresa's sixteenth great grand Uncle. Not only was he Teresa's ancestor but he was also mine...not as close as an Uncle but near enough.
Isn't that quite the oddest coincidence...
In a convoluted way it also means that I'm related to Himselfs first wife because that particular branch of T's family goes through her Mother's side back to Sir Richard et al.
Now, I don't mind in the slightest being properly related to T of course...but her Mother is quite beyond the pale and I'd hesitate to refer to her as a relation...
It was John who once commented we're probably all related if we go back far enough...which I agree with...given the time and the skill someone could no doubt prove it...but I didn't ever expect to be related by blood to my step-daughter...
