It's been a quiet week in my street...I've been ensconced in my little shed most of the time so housework has taken a back seat...not that I've actually achieved much in the shed mind you...fiddling about mostly 'cos my creative muse has gone on holidays. I have made a Tilda doll...though she is still waiting on arms and clothes...they aren't for playing with, and they look weird I suppose unless you happen to know they're a Tilda. Very tall and awful thin with a narrow head far too small for the body. If ever I manage to stuff her skinny arms, I'll take a photo. Don't hold your breath though...
The Art doll is almost finished...she has a frock and hair and both her arms and legs but she needs boots to disguise her lumpy feet...and a hat.
The Argos man turned up this morning bearing the futon/sofa bed...it comes in a box...doesn't everything...and Himself lugged it down to Reuben and T's shed when he could have asked the delivery driver to do it...but he didn't.
We went shopping this morning and the shop was heaving with people and I went to buy some savings stamps and old grotty face served me...I try very hard to avoid her but she popped up from where she'd been grovelling about on her hands and knees and I was taken by surprise...she is such a miserable sour faced woman and snaps at you...not like the rest of the people who work there who are all full of cheerfulness and chat...
I bought a frozen turkey which is about the size of an exceedingly small hen...it isn't Christmas for Himself if he doesn't have a turkey so a turkey he shall have...and it has giblets, though I've never yet mastered quite what to do with them so I cook them and then give them to the cats...
And I notice big cat is using the edge of T and Reuben's shed...the bit near the door...to sharpen his claws. And it looks alarmingly obvious that's what he's been doing ...
It's been very quiet next door but one...it's too dark for the little boys to come down to see us in the evenings after school and I rather suspect Wendy spends her afternoons off fast asleep...I'd intended to go into the tattoo parlour to see Jamie after we'd been shopping but totally forgot until we came home. Nancy has started to join Himself and Bobby and Millie when they go for their morning walks...Eilis isn't allowed to go anymore 'cos she buggers off somewhere or other on the bog and won't come back when she's told...
Going back to Jamie and the tattoo parlour...there was a beautiful book in the bookshop I saw yesterday of tattoos...full colour photographs of seriously stunning art work and I dithered and dithered a bit more but I think I'll get it for a Christmas present for him...he is such a good artist and if he stays the course with the work experience then it'd probably be useful to have as a reference...
The car smelt alright today...liberal spraying with Oust and plenty of fresh air cured the foul stench of yesterday thank heavens...I'd have walked into town otherwise...Millie is none the worse, in fact she's been extremely cheerful today.
I did do a little tiny bit of housework actually...you know how teaspoons get really stained...with tea...and you're supposed to be eco-friendly and scrub them with baking powder and lemon juice...and I thought stuff that for a game of soldiers and soaked them in diluted bleach instead...and now they're all bright and shiny and not a stain in sight. And the bleachy water cleaned the sink as well...and the taps. Probably totally wrecked the biological set-up of the septic tank but you can't have everything...
