Another few minutes...
Reuben is hammering away lining their shed with insulation and then covering it with hardboard...goodness me that does look nice. I want mine done the same of course...!
Quite how he can see to drive in nails I haven't the faintest idea 'cos its rapidly getting dark, but at least he's using a hammer and not a nail-gun.
I've done a bit on Ancestry and found my third Great Grandfather spent twelve months in prison for thieving...didn't say what he stole though. I suppose he was lucky not to have been transported, but it was rather 'going out of fashion' in his day...and he was sixty years old, so maybe an allowance was made for his age.
Teresa is interested in her 16th Great Grand Uncle being beheaded at the behest of Henry V111 after all...wasn't too sure whether she would be...so I told her all about hanging, drawing and quartering as well and she said it made her feel sick...
Wendy left the horses in the stables today and when Himself went down to see the donkeys, he said Savannah was knocking seven bells out of her stable door...whether she managed to escape before Wendy came home I'm not sure...we didn't see her come past here anyway...
The little boys have just come up to say hello...they were wielding a Star Wars Laser which looked to be a fearsome weapon altogether even if it was mostly plastic...they both had us in gales of laughter yesterday evening telling us jokes...which were actually funny, rather than the usual sort of jokes that little boys tell adults when you have to force a laugh...the only one I can remember, 'cos I'm useless at jokes was...What do you call a sleeping Bull? A Bulldozer! Well, we thought it was funny...
Alex had been having a history lesson at school about Hitler and the Second World War and the way the teacher described it...in simple terms...was that Hitler shot himself because the other team were winning...then he announced he'd have been a proper Hitler person...this alarmed us somewhat, until he went on to explain that because he is blonde haired and blue-eyed he would have been the sort of person Hitler liked...
Reuben stepped in hastily at this point and said Hitler was extremely wicked and Alex would not have liked being one of his chosen few...
It can be a bit of a minefield being around small people, you never know what they're going to come out with next...
We're going to have a Chinese Take-Away for supper...I'll try to forget the television programmes I've seen about food hygiene and dead dogs hanging up in the kitchens...I suspect T and Reuben fancy a change from my suppers which have been absymal so far...either really late or last night's dried up Shepherd's pie which had little going for it...
I can cook perfectly well when it's just the two of us but it all goes completely to pot when there is anyone else to feed...goodness knows why.
Himself is feeling very much better today...we're going to get Cranberry Juice tomorrow...the anti-biotics have kicked in and the pain-killers work well. He does have to go back at the beginning of next week to check his urine again and so we're hoping it'll be clear and free from infection...
I think that's about it then...for today anyway.
