I'm trying paragraphs on Word again to see if they come up properly on ipernity because writing long passages without a break goes against the grain...and it's about the only writing 'rule' I still follow.
Teresa and Reuben's shed is no further forward...you'll remember they decided to get a shed to sleep in, and I can't for the life of me imagine why, but they decided all this while I was still suffering from the effects of being out cold and non compos mentis in hospital...bet they made the decision then so I couldn't argue about it...anyway, Reuben investigated sheds. He's been looking up sheds since May actually and has finally decided on one from a place near Dublin who only delivers if they have a lorry load, who can't possibly give him even a rough estimate as to when that might be, and charges vast amounts of money...
He's paid the deposit now which is unfortunate, because I asked Jonny yesterday and he told me where the man who makes perfectly good garden sheds lives...about three miles up the road. Jonny works part-time in the NCF and I really only asked him out of interest...to see if we could order one and have it delivered from their supplier...
The caravan is a little bit the worse for wear...it's only a small tourer after all...but they've never complained about sleeping in there and it has a fire and a heater and they have loads of blankets...it could be spiders of course...T can be a bit funny about things that scuttle though she did hold a pet mouse at Luthur's when we visited there and she managed not to have the heebie-jeebies or drop it on its head...
They decided they'd like the shed near the river...quite where near the river I haven't the foggiest idea 'cos there isn't much space and we've planted trees all along one part of it...and T wants a veranda on this shed and hanging baskets and blue gingham curtains...quite who she thinks will be planting and watering and dead-heading the hanging baskets goodness knows ...well, that'll be me actually. And the blue gingham curtains? That'll be me as well I expect.
Then there's the futon. They said they'll get a futon to sleep on...I honestly think they are becoming quite peculiar altogether...
To cap it all Reuben 'phoned and asked me how long did I think it would take him to level the ground off for said shed...I haven't the faintest idea. Rather depends whether or not he unearths enormous stones or dead bodies...both of which are quite likely. If he digs up a bog body, I saw it first!
My enthusiasm for this blooming shed is wearing very thin because I have to confess to visualising the huge numbers of fat green slugs which will be in slug paradise when they discover they can creep underneath it...and the thought of sleeping over the top of them...especially if they invite those awful orangey coloured ones, with a sort of frill on either side of their bodies, to join them in their new abode...just the thought of falling asleep to the sound of them slithering about is enough to give me the feckin' horrors.
So, we shall wait and see what occurs in a couple of weeks time...
