For Heavens sakes...Himself appeared in my workroom door and said would you ever just stand in the road 'cos one of Kitty's sheep is out...so I did and the stupid animal dashed about with it's eyes rolling until it saw us and bleated frantically and ran up to Himself like a long lost friend...then cleared the wall in one jump and rushed about the field looking for the rest of the sheep...who'd all disappeared.

Then I biked down to Jason and Wendy's 'cos Jason said I could poke about in their sheds in case there was anything I fancied and there was a small fat dog scuttling about...in the middle of the road. So I stopped my bike....with difficulty, 'cos the brakes are't the best, and spoke kindly to the little fat dog who snarled and showed it's horrid little teeth and when I bent down and tried to stroke it it snapped and growled some more...nasty creature. I told it I'd kick it if it did that again...and it ran away back towards Henry's and then the light dawned and I realised it must be one of Henry and Marys horrid little dogs...

But Henry and Mary live in our streets version of Fort Knox...you can't get in and probably can't get out either if they chose to keep you there...and I'd not the faintest idea of how to alert them to the fact their little fat dog with bitey teeth was roaming about on it's own...and I'd no intention of trying to pick the gruesome animal up and stuff it under my arm...

Caitlin and Alex were watching a film and had Nancy in the house and Nancy isn't allowed really but she bounded up to me and slobbered all over my hands and wagged her tail fit to burst and I explained why I was there and Caitlin told Alex to go and play outside and his bottom lip came out and he scuttled back into the sitting room but not before telling me the way to tell the difference between him and his brother Jack is that Jack had brown hair and he, Alex, is blond...there was nothing much in Jason's sheds...empty paint pots and ancient swallows nests so I started for home and that nasty little dog had disappeared through a small hole near Henry and Marys gate...bet they don't know that hole is there.

There were loads of enormous Blackberries near to Breeges so I stopped and picked those and waved to Hubert when he went past on his tractor and saw the lost sheep had found the other sheep and then I put my bike away and filled a jar with leftover Gin and sugar and Blackberries and then Reuben 'phoned.

Reuben always acts the goat and I always think he's some sort of salesperson so I snap sharply...YES? ready to slam the 'phone down and he launched into a long explanation about levelling the ground off for this garden shed they are intent on buying and all I can visulise is every enormous green slug making a beeline for the underneath and heaping themselves in huge slimy piles...and I wouldn't put it past the odd rat thinking it was a nice cosy home either...so I'm keeping out of the discussion about sheds and erecting them and levelling the ground and that sort of thing...they're only coming for a couple of days but I suppose I'll have to stock up on cakes and biscuits 'cos Reuben is a devil when it comes to sweet sugary stuff...

Suppose the time has come to have a think about supper...whatever it is it will include a roasted parsnip...seriously delicous.
