It's rained the entire day long...and it's been very chilly indeed, quite horrible in fact. We went into Roscommon town this morning to tax the car and I picked out a hairdressers at random and plonked myself down and asked...would someone please cut it all off....now would be good.
So Emma snipped and chatted and snipped a bit more and it ended up exactly how I'd envisaged...I was really pleased...but now I have little itchy bits down my back so a bath will be essential tonight...
By the time I'd sat in the hairdressers for half an hour I was finally reasonably dry but got soaking wet again going to Frances shop to get some sewing cotton...she's begun to stock Gutterman threads which are the best you can buy and don't break every few minutes during a vital part of sewing...
There was a woman wanting to buy some net curtaining and Frances was explaining she'd need to measure her windows first...but she wanted to buy the curtaining now...she had her eye on some quite fancy scalloped pieces that are supposed to be displayed without being gathered up and the more Frances said she needed the measurements the more the customer dug her heels in...I was getting frustrated just listening to her so moved away and looked at other stuff and tried not to eavesdrop...
And Heatons was really busy...it's a cheap and cheerful shop that sells clothes and household goods...towels and cookware and all manner of bits and pieces. I found some cheap cushions to put my own patchwork covers on and went to the till to find a long queue because something had gone wrong with the tills...the staff behind the counter were repeatedly asking for the Manager over the tannoy and he still wasn't appearing...all the customers were grand with waiting...except for the customer behind me who kept up an endless muttering and shuffling her feet and asking anyone who'd listen what the hold up was and she wasn't coming in here ever again and the staff were useless and much more in that vein...
When the manager had finally appeared and swiped his card through slots and all the tills went Ping! and began to gobble up money again the girl who served me apologised for the wait...I said it didn't matter in the slightest...the grumbling customer, who'd come up behind me again...said it certainly did matter...and she wasn't going to come in this shop ever again...etc.
The assistant smiled a wan sort of a smile and I went back to the car and then we came home...
