Apart from trawling Ancestry I've made two cushion covers today using the bright purple and pinks from the new jellyroll I bought the other day...I've put them on the settee and Eilis immediately sat on the biggest one. She loves anything new or anything which has just been washed...sits or lies on whatever it is and then goes to sleep and snores fit to bust. She's taken to sticking her tongue out just a little bit while she's asleep...looks very silly.

Eilis is pretty ancient...she'll be thirteen in November...not that you'd ever guess mind you...she stills dashes about hither and thither and is only more or less quiet...discounting the snoring...when she's asleep. Eilis is a very shouty dog...endlessly barking to announce herself in case you might forget her...and she can hear the rattle of the biscuit tin from a hundred paces.

Millies claw has finally come off...whether it fell off on it's own or she chewed it off I don't know, but she's much happier now it's gone and she can run about again without a bother on her.

Someone is looking at Annies cottage down the road so Himself has gone to see if they are able to get past Jack and Neddy...he's using the donkeys as an excuse to find out whether they're interested in buying the cottage or not. Poor Annie 'phoned the other day from England...while she was on holidays here she'd called to see us as she always does...and she gave me some cash to get a treat 'cos of being in hospital...but I'm drifting away from the point again. While she was here in Ireland staying with her brother, she broke her nose trying to put a dog collar on a sheep. You couldn't make it up really...Annie is a short plump lady who is always very well turned out...the image of her attempting to catch a wayward sheep at twelve o'clock at night by putting a dogs collar round it's neck left me rather speechless...the sheep escaped and Annie fell down on the concrete path and gave herself a black eye and a broken nose.

Jack and Neddy are eating the grass around Annies cottage...I don't think the estate agent approves of having to ward off Jack who is under the impression everyone loves him and will have a treat in their pocket...ginger biscuit would be best though a carrot would do. The agent bears a close resemblance to a podgy ferret so I personally don't care if Jack harrasses him or not. He's so feckin' snooty with his nose in the air as though he's warding off an unpleasant smell.

Neddy just lies about in the leftover sand heap and sometimes heaves himself to his feet to peer through the cottage windows...

Oh...almost forgot, the last time Annie was here her brothers car broke down and they had to be rescued by the breakdown people whose truck cab was too small for Annie and her friend to fit in so they rode in the car on the back of the breakdown truck while her brother sat up front with the driver...

And I spray painted the old rocking chair again 'cos it was looking decidely tatty...the wind kept changing direction on purpose the minute I began of course so a good bit of paint went everywhere but where I'd intended...it's really fast drying so it can come in again tonight...Millie likes to sleep on it in the evening.

Better think about supper...it was going to be salmon fishcakes but I only have new potatoes so it'll be a childrens favourite of fish fingers instead...we like the ones in a so-called crispy coating which isn't crispy really and it probably isn't Cod either...
