Still struggling a bit...especially with this over-whelming tiredness...but results of blood tests show my thyroid has all but given up the ghost so hopefully, once meds kick in, the wretched exhaustion will disappear.

You've all been doing stuff and making things and gardening and looking after baby birds and I feel awfully left out 'cos it's all I can do to get out of bed in the morning and even reading your blogs has me totally knackered. Though the weather has picked up and we've had some beautiful sunshine so I've been lying about under the apple tree in the garden chair...even burnt the top of my feet.

Himself is managing pretty well with the cooking...I'm not having three meals a day anyway 'cos I'm on this funny diet of six small meals a day...all high in protein and carbohydrate...intended to boost the immune system and replace lost weight. Not that I've put any weight on yet in spite of eating loads of bread and full fat yoghurt's etc....but Himself is cooking his own suppers..nothing fancy mind you, but he won't go hungry. And he can cook pasta for me and can now make a cheese sauce...

The hospital food was pretty grim...I had a vegetarian lasagna one evening which bore no resemblance to the ones I make and made the mistake of saying it was 'nice'...so I had the same for the next two nights...the poor cook was probably so grateful he'd found something I'd actually eat. His name was Francis and he'd give me extra Bourbon biscuits with a cup of tea...the other patients...apart from Gertie...were all in their dotage so I think I had their share of biscuits. Gertie didn't like the Bourbon ones...only digestives. She was waiting to see if she needed a stent in her heart...she and I were the only two who used the loo and could shower on our own and we both had beds in corners so we'd sort of spread ourselves out over the windowsills.

The very old lady in the bed opposite me died in the time it took for me to walk to one end of the corridor and back again...she stayed there most of the morning 'cos the mortuary people were busy...that conjures up unwelcome visions...but the curtains were drawn round her so that was something.

Can't think of anything else to tell you for the moment...
