Now it's feckin' freezing cold again...the wind is bitter...sneaking in through every crack and cranny and there ought not to be any since the new front door and windows but it manages somehow and sends icy whispers round my ears and feet...

Spent this morning cleaning out the sideboard in my workroom and spraying everything in sight with cheap anti-bacterial spray 'cos the mouses had been very busy munching on peanuts and chewing up a twist of raffia while endlessly pooing...Millie was thrilled to bits because she managed to catch one...it was only tiny mind you and half caught already 'cos it'd had managed to get inside the trap and then couldn't get out again...

Now all the drawers are clean and have fresh lining paper and every item I'm keeping is in a plastic box with a tight fitting lid. Then Himself moved the cupboard away from the wall and found yet another hole...he's filled that up with cement. It is the bird who is the problem...his seed must be like a well-stocked supermarket shelf to a hungry mouse.

Then this afternoon I've been playing about with Word...I've found how to get pictures on but haven't quite got the knack of continuing to write after the picture or photo is on the Word document...having had the bright idea of compiling a family history of the people in our collective tree, it would be excellent to include their photographs along with their potted biography.

Des is apparently having the same unenthusiastic response from his family when he finds something interesting as I do from Himself...Ooh look...there is a photo of your Gt Grand cousin twice removed...and he sort of grunts and says that's nice. There was one photo of one of his relatives showing a middle-aged man with a horse and cart in a back street in Manchester...probably a rag and bone man I said with heavy sarcasm...which I feel went un-noticed 'cos he was engrossed in music on YouTube at the time...

Eilis has recovered from her tummy upset...she sicked up vast quantities of cremated meat...heaved a huge sigh of relief and has gone back to her former self...barking at nothing and scuttling about like a black beetle on meth...

We've had to take all the mats up in the sitting room 'cos of Eli and Dinky's bladder problems so now Ellis's claws go tap-tap-tap from early morning until she finally goes to bed when I do...drives me crackers.

I once bought a pair of expensive claw clippers...the sort which are silent and don't pull or snag. You'd have thought I was about to pull her teeth out with pliers the appalling fuss she made...she wriggled and squealed and carried on like a dog demented so I had to give up in the end. We took her to the dog lady who trims and that sort of thing, and the little wretch sat there as quiet as could be and never made a murmur. I swore at her all the way home and she just bounced about on the back seat of the car barking at everyone she saw through the windows...

I'm going to put a photo on of Des's Granddad and his brother and see if it comes up when I cut and paste...
