I got back on Sunday evening to a rapturous welcome by the Hounds and it took me till Monday morning to realise the damage that had been done to the plants by a heavy hailstorm last week. So many have been ruined by the hail, their leaves torn and ruined.
My immediate area was the worst hit, and I'm told the damage is the most severe anyone can remember around here, few times in long lifetimes. I'm relieved the hail wasn't so bad elsewhere nearby as there are orange trees and other crops and they suffered terribly a few years ago already with uncommon freezing; that would have been trluy awful. Still, it was shocking to see the way the plants have been bombarded, such a shame. Severe pruning of the whole lot is in short order, but some will take years to recover and others just won't really. :-(
