Some "advertising" would be nice =)

I sometimes post about Ipernity on various fora and frequently post individual images and links to whole albums in other contexts. At least my images are still there, unlike ph0t0bucket, which just displays a placeholder sign.
In practice, my usual forum signature is a link to the homepage for my albums.

As told to Frans, thank you for doing all that. And I repeat also my question: Does the embedding of the code work on other web services you use? I have discovered the so called "hot linking" of images may not work on some blog services because ipernity is still mostly behind unsecured http.

The few I've personally tested (images copied as BB code) seem to work correctly. Fairly sure that if they did not, I would soon get a message that the linking had failed.

Thank you, Sara. It was either WordPress.com and/or Blogger.com, which I tested few months ago, and at least then they did not allow embedding "hotlinked" images referring to Ipernity. The reason given on alert was "insecure web site".

Agreed Sami, but as i said to Audry ages ago 'Facebook' users are unlikely to be interested, the same applies tousers of 'twitter'
A few could be tempted from Flickr, but they would need beating into being more social and cease using premade replies.
I do advertise on Flickr and of course I tell my friends.

Sadly true, John. But now Facebook is getting a pretty bad reputation, which could make people to considered alternatives. How I wish we could have got ipernity using https already!

Yes Sami, 'Getting* it has always been a playground for criminls. I doubt many people l.ike the average ipernity users would post photos on FB.
There is one site I know of where many 'Ex Multiply friends moved to and that is 'Wordpress', one of my contact friends here is there mainly but also uses FB for private connection to her family.

Indeed, the same was with number of My Opera people, who chose WordPress.com as their new home. I tried it as well, but at that time I was not yet ready to pay for the service, and their limit for image space was very limited on free accounts.

All possible shares are welcome. And I know, I myself keep on forgetting to do so.

Some possibilities:

1) Share what ipernity team publish at our Facebok page.

2) Share your own ipernity photos to FB and everywhere else where you have accounts and blogs.

3) Share your images from the ipernity group area and tell about the cool group where you are a member.

4) Write a review about some cool ipernity features and share them elsewhere. Give links to those features here on ipernity if possible.

5) Openly tell that ipernity is heading to paid BUT non-commercial AND independent service. We are not quite there yet, but that is the goal. So, this costs something to use, but comes with great advantages: no advertisements, cool features, lightweight (fast) to use an view.

I followed to frontpage and scrolled down through groups. The translation of the group text I found was aweful.It's not allowed to write here, what I was thinking.

No, sorry. It was one groups example shown on frontpage, which is changed now on other examples. I followed into one group going to read its descryption. My suggestion was the text was translated automatically knowing me as .DE on my tablet. But the german text was horrible. If IP doesn't translate, the group admin did. But Google translator did a very bad job to him.
There was an advice from Kalli on one of the last news flashes for Deepl.com and I tried several times with very good results. It's not the big spectrum of Google translator but more smooth and growing. They just changed their commercial. Maybe a chance to get into their credits... ;)

Yes, the descriptions of groups are on hands of group administrators. There on group administration tools is a possibility to provide the correct translations on several languages. That way the group members can get description on the same language as is their choice for the whole ipernity web site.

Then what comes the translation tool and what tool should be used, I'm afraid it is once again things that have to wait. I personally use browser plugins and addons for tough cases. SOme of them even allow to try different translations services.

On Android I use Google translator APP. Works on copied text. Fast and comfortable, but even Google translator. But it helps!

Nobody is immune on a good story,its one of our best weapons,we must use it.

You are right, we need it! I try to speed up that.

Yes,that could be a good start but all those things to click has to be at the bottom,first plain oldfashioned story,just what happened with our site before/after taking over and future.
This is not easy task,it has to be written simple and with good english as a first language.
I mentioned this before to William cause he has a novel and understands storytelling.
Bernhard also wrote a text about IMA takeover before some time.

I tried myself to write that but my english is not so good.
Hope one day when somebody asks me what is Ipernity and why do you think is different from some other sites i can send them link to front page and say just click on a story button and see for yourself.

Theres nothing about crowdfunding,about IMA effort,no story,just info about site.
When one day we start this micro marketing we have to have a place/link where people can see something that will catch them,story about community that deicided that other way is also possible.

Every now and then i go to flickr help forum and explore it,also on twitter,there are some big problems,site malfunctioning,people are angry,they are looking for another place,and i wouldnt be surprised if it slowly go down,it would be helpfull if we had a story.

We know about Ipernity on Facebook. I would like to know who is currently managing the presentation of Ipernity photos on Twitter? I noticed that administrators from ima publish different (good) photos from Ipernity in other social media.
And some idea: MAYBE it would be worth publishing photos of Ipernity members there, which were shown at major exhibitions or photo contests, and especially photos that were awarded with prizes and awards? Maybe there are not many such photos on Ipernity, but it does exist. Wouldn't it is even better advertising for Ipernity, for our community - to show photos that have been appreciated by independent photographers in the world ?

Marko Novosel takes care of Ipernity's Twitter account at the moment.

Personally I have been too busy to take care of photos shared to Ipernity's Facebook account. This is one reason why I hope people would use for example Amis d'Ipernity Facebook group and share photos at least there.

But your suggestion is good. If you could perhaps help me and Marko to choose such rewarded top photos? I don't know how to find them.

But that does not mean it would not work out. In general the best way to get some idea spreaded is personal contacts, passing the word from friend to friend. Another way is of course to advertise it on IMA team blog (Ipernity news).

There are also several things to consider. Is it alright to boost the fame of already famous photographers? Will it make Ipernity more appealing to ride on fame of famous ones? How in general people get interested on some social media services?

Personally I still don't have answers to those questions. All possible ideas are of course welcome, and it can be at least worth to try.

What I like about current Ipernity is that it actually does not even pretend to be a place of highly professional photography. I have accounts also at YouPic, Facebook and Instagram, and for some time ago I also tried Google+ and Flickr. From all those I especially like the way how social and casual Ipernity is. Or maybe I just have found it that way. Ipernity of course may look different depending on what contacts one has and to what groups one belongs.
