Project Name: Recombinant Complexity(複雜性重組)


Project Brief:

Recombinant architecture (建築架構重組) is a radical re-questioning of the most fundamental(基礎的;根本的) programmatic assumptions(假定,設想) about the logical affordances of built space.

 When both architecture and the bodies (that inhabit it) are (themselves) both organic and inorganic, when both are materially alive and not-alive, when the natures(本質) of both are understood as artificial and artifactual(人工的工藝的), the first premises of their interactions in space and over time are reopened.

Manuel De Landa, now teaching in the architecture and planning graduate school at Columbia, maps the promiscuous(複雜雜亂的) intraevolution(內演化) of geologic, linguistic(言語學), biological and mechanical intelligences across multiple sites of intensification(增強,強化;加緊,加劇 ) and convergence(聚合).

Within De Landa’s transversal history of polyscalar(poly-scalar多數量的) incorporation(團結合併;編入) , architecture becomes a site for the manifestation(表現形式) of multiple concurrent(一致的) evolutionary(發展的) vectors(方向) : semiotic(符號學的), military, meteorological(氣象學的), and viral.

This evolution of forms is realized by the differential interrelations (互動差異性) of genetic replication (基因複製) and dynamic environments (動態環境)The plural(多元的) agencies(作用) of design are located across the two: in the incremental(增值的) durations(持續) of singular life spans and in the limit trajectories of impact they have on the habitat. Environmental history persists(細水長流) - is translated and miniaturized(使微型化)- in both the genetic signatures(符號特徵) of the traits(特徵)  for which it selects, and in the species-bodies animated(模擬有生命物體的)  by those same genetic signatures.

總之 , 大概理解起來跟上學期浩修的MAPPING有些相似嘛 . 只不過COMBINE的系統不一樣而已 .
