While this is a somewhat brief return, it may not signal a complete return.
This year my health has taken a real beating; there's no sign of recovery in the foorseeable future, for one illness, though I will recover, the other has to run it's course for another 3 1/2 months.
In the interim I've uploaded a couple of unique files, here. A trip to Tokyo, earlier this year means I can resume my back yard project. The camera has some odd quirks that set it apart from the original so stay tuned for some weird imagery.
Well life continues in it's own maddening way; I'm not sure if I mentioned it here, but I've bgun a new publication, altfotonet.org issue one was published earlier this year, I am now in the process of researching and issue #2.
This issue will look at 3 melbourne based photographers and their approach to photographing Melbourne.
One of those photographers is none other than Rob Young, whose keen eye, and sense of desgin combined with his sense of space has produced a great series of images of Melbourne's Light & Space.
We hope to publish issue #2 of altfotonet.org by the end of April 2009
So in a somewhat timely series of events, today I visited, along with the rest of the teaching faculty, a show at the NGV, entitled, Order & disorder Archives & Photography. The show itself is about the way the camera has been use by artists since the 1960's to create some semblance of order about the world around them.
From the exhibition catalogue/website, www.ngv.vic.gov.au/orderanddisorder/index.html
"Photography is naturally associated with archives because of its inherent ability to record, store and organise visual images.....
who explore the idea of archives as complex, living and occasionally mysterious systems of knowledge."
Did my little series achieve any of this? not sure but, this I guess was one of the driving ideas behind it when I began.
So folks the backyard project is over and done with. Technology gave up befoe I did, the little VQ sent to me so kindly by jakes_world has ceased to function, I'll upload a couple more then that's it.
2008.12.01
All done no more of these images folks. Time to move on.
Have I been busy? You bet, and I'm glad you asked. Other than a recent trip, to Sydney, by road, I've submitted again this year some work for consideration for the annual MGA William & Winifred Bowness Photography award. I've put CCP exhibition application on the back burner, as I write short course I've ben invited to run at the Grafton Arts Festival in early 2009, as well as get a new publication off the ground.
The new publication is called altfotnet.org, and is intended to be a virtual exhibition space for excellent photography as chosen by a small panel of peer reviewers.
Have a look give it a go.
So my backyard set is going oooookaaay, but I'm starting to despair such infrequent weather changes and sooo much sunshine; boo who'd have thought, a Melbournian complaining about the weather eh.
What is sadly becoming apparent is, that I leave my washing on the line far too long!
Created a new set today, I'm not sure why, but I'm fascinated by the view out of the back door. Our yard faces North so the light is spectacular, all year round, and this does the most fabulous job of transforming the most mundane of objects our clothesline and the view generally.

| Hanging Exhibition #4 2007 |
Was up quite late helping the guys at Gallery 124, in Sunshine setup their X-mas show, on Friday night.
while you still can.
Little VistaQuest, sent to me by jakes_world, has proved to be somewhat elusive, until now, buy it from amazon
I have a small body of work shot very recently, about 10 images in total a sub-set of, other ongoing projects, do I upload ALL at once now, or in dribs and drabs and where, here or the "other" place.
I've set up a group for low rez devices, mobile phone cameras and keychain cameras, feel free to join, I know I've invited most of my network so I won't be sending out any more invites. Hope to see more of everyone here on ipernity now that this groups exist.
I've been sent a lo-fi keychain camera, and am having much fun with it, I will post here occasionally as well as on my f account.
