brilliant satire!

i'm afraid it is not a satire... it's unbelivably scary......

Roberto Ballerini - travelingpro replies:
the animation is satire, but the numbers about the compared costs of a slave in Finland and a worker in Gabon are sadly correct...
Look at the site: they seem to have a long story of thought-provoking presentations...

agree - everything makes sense. What I find scary is the fact that there is such a huge effort in creating control-devices, and that this (behind all the very sexist references...) is specially meant for third world countries, increasing more and more the dominance relation from the western world...

I don't know, Andrea. In my opinion the most scary part of it is that it is slowly entering our western societies, through the absence of an ethics that we are passing to our chiildren and money divide and digital divide are invading the kindergardens...

and it's somehow to late to stop this. we are almost already in a total control society, every move we make leaves a mark, which is recorded and stored for years. It's sad, because control leads to homologation, and this reduces the creativity and the innovation ability of a society...

Me too ... we're living in an orwellian world, only that it's already worse than the worst predictions by George Orwell ... all the elements are already in place ... false flag operations ... faked terrorist attacks ... finger prints ... facial recognition ... the creation of constant fear ... mass media that is either controlled by governments or some "big guys" creating "mind control"-like structures ... embedded journalism ... the creation of concepts of the enemy ... well, I could go on with this list forever ... but that's simply too much ... I sure can't stand all those lies anymore

The Yes Men are incredible. The sad thing is that the people who attend don't ever see the satire, but I guess thats what makes the Yes Men so successful.

The fathers of the New World Order are slowly but surely trying to capture our minds ... it's up to us to say NO !

Anton Hazewinkelpro says:
I think it's too easy to blame the "fathers of the New World Order" or any other large entity. The fact of the matter is that consumers in Western countries don't want to pay more for their products. There are numerous choices for buying products that are free from child labor and give producers in developing countries an honest share. But, the market (yes that's you and me) is generally not interested.

I don't understand all this negativism ...
Terrible atrocities happen every day, development into a "Big brother" society is certainly something to be alert on; so, yes there are a lot of things not right.
But if you compare the current condition of the world with any other period in history then:
- poverty is at its lowest rate ever;
- compare the "third world", as it was called in this thread (I don't like that labelling), of 10 years ago with today: China, India, Vietnam, Mexico, Brasil and many more countries have gone through an amazing development that improved living conditions and life expectancy dramatically. we're talking more than half of the world population here ...
- freedom of expression and diversity of expression has never been larger (also thanks to the Internet);
- cultural exchange has never been so diverse; just look at Ipernity and with whom you share your images and thoughts. this was unthinkable even 5 years ago ...

I can go on and on ... there is every reason to face the future with concern and optimism at the same time.

What I really don't understand is the concept some of you share of being "controlled" while believing in all kind of conspiracy theories. Most of us are living in democratic societies and are able to execute democratic rights. Meaning: you cannot have it all your way and others cannot have it all their way. Individual rights are still fairly protected and we're struggling to incorporate old values into new technologies that challenge these old values; be it intellectual property rights, freedom of speech or protection against organized violence (i.e. terrorism).

Progress is always a struggle between maintaining values and deploying new concepts. No reason to be afraid off; face it with a positive attitude!

Roberto Ballerini - travelingpro replies:
You're right for sure, Anton: we're a little bit negative, but I'm not sure it's something about conspiracy theory or control; It's more about the passive way the majority of us live in and it's related also with the country you live in.

EDIT: but you're right in a remark: too much attention on "them" and too little attention on "us"
