[About blogs] LOL

Thursday December 6, 2007 at 01:01PM

I found another of my shots blogged without notice...

... and I don't know if I have to be flattered or angry:

I was looking at Flickr DNA: I'm always curious to know when, if and how my pics are used ;-)

Some of mine are out there too. Sometimes they ask and sometimes they don't. When I find one, it's usually credited to me, but not always. Its the latter that I get angry about.

Roberto Ballerini - travelingpro replies:
It is the reason why I started adding my name tag to all the shots and I ultimately decided to remove the original version from downloads: I've no problem with my pics being published, but I'd like to know where and how and what is the reason --> I'd be really pissed off if I'd find my shots used in unethical/racist/... sites

Ohhh my...I just checked Flickr DNA and some of mine are out there as well. But I guess knitting is right, as long as they are credited back to me, its okay...i guess?!
Posted 23 months ago. ( permalink )
Roberto Ballerini - travelingpro replies:
Legally it depends on national legislations, but ethically I feel ok if I'm credited and I feel better if I'm politely asked...

NOTE: I think that it is really different when this is done in a topic or a blog post inside the same site, as here in Ipernity, but this is my opinion and I'm always ready to remove if someone doesn't like it!

i think common courtesy wouldn't hurt. i also blog other people's photos but i always ask for permission first and after i do blog, i send the person an email with the link and article. of course, if they don't like, they are welcome to ask to take down, no problems. ;) it's about courtesy and respect.

Bigoode [Frozen account] says:
I not really ask everytime, but I link back on the photo and the name of the artist is mentionned
and if the artist ask me to remove the pix, i do it

but luckily here you had your name on the pix !
you should make a comment !!
:D

Shine on

PS. it's still flattering i think

I would be fuming if that happened to me. When I have been asked for permission I have generally allowed someone to blog an image. However, when I was on Flickr, there were a few people blogging my images who didn't have the decency to ask. It was getting more and more of a problem until a couple of weeks ago when I shut the Flickr account down, came on here and ensured I was 'all rights reserved'...

thanks for the reminder on that Flickr-DNA-tool

I just found that one of my sets about my bone marrow donation was blogged (without notice)
but... hey
in this case not a photo but a complete set - and I appreciate the blogging
but I have no idea if anybody out there is interested in this =-|

well, he just put a link to your set, that is ok anyway, even without asking - the whole internet is based on linking. however, if he would have put a picture online in his blog, it would have been decent or even necessary to ask.

hahahahahahaha, hallelluiah!!! what were you doing taking pics of the Pope? My grandmother is 98 and lately there's a german bloke driving her crazy... one so called Alzheimer. Well She looks like a double of te Pope, so when she knew she was kind of shocked, because she can't see, but everybody is telling her... so if she's clear and we joke her about the Pope and how she looks like him She always say: shhhhhhh, not necessary everybody knows, you never know...

I would feel a little miffed that it was taken without asking, but at least it's in a good place:)
How do you find out if someone has taken your picture to blog?
Posted 23 months ago. ( permalink )
Roberto Ballerini - travelingpro replies:
You can use search engines and blog aggregators search engines. Flickr DNA gives some example that you can use for Ipernity simply changing the URL searched for.
