Twittering

I wish I could say that I don't have time for Twitter. *sigh*

I have limited my internet time these past few months, fewer hours on Flickr, Ipernity, deviantArt... etc. I've spent more time with people, fixed up my house, work more, and rediscovered my love of shopping. Good stuff!

Twitter, however, may be an obstacle to my off line success. I'm ambivalent about this form of tech communication. I do love birds though - such a cute logo!!

btw... I did get a Twitter account (see above) and have since lost it - somehow accounts got shuffled or "fixed" and mine was deleted. I think this is a sign from the almighty - no time to Twitter!

Happy World Philosophy Day!!

"…the end of our exploring,

Will be to arrive where we started,

And know the place for the first time."

TS Elliot

Leave it to the BBC to report on this momentous occasion! Seems like every day is philosophy day in my world. My question-of-the-day is "Why ask why?"

Hope your day is filled with interesting questions and some great photo ops!

Is It a Virus or Just Microsoft's PC Torture!

My PC is dying. Two out of four of my drives have been erased by services.exe, I think. This virus or Microsoft error (can't tell which is which) leaves a calling card: "Windows Delayed Write Failed H(or any drive):\$MFT." This has happened before and it usually requires digging into the guts of my computer, removing the dead drives, reinstalling them, reformatting my drives, and reinstalling everything. *sigh - visualize small tear leaking from the corner of my right eye*

Why can't computers be like the plain old telephone. You simply use it. I have heard that Apple computers are easier to use, less likely to attract viruses and have just as many software applications as PCs. I've also heard that Linux is a good, if limited, operating system and also eliminates the Microsoft paranoia and daily bug fixes. Maybe I'll get a cell phone with a camera and simply upload photos vs. putting them on my PC.

Anyway, that's my rant-o-the-day! Thanks for listening.

I've Never Pinholed.... Have you?

I'm not an old school photographer - barely schooled, actually.  Until digi cameras, my photo activities centered around the occasional vacation, party, wow-look-at-that-weird (fill in the blank) event.  Some of my old school photo friends have spoken of the joy of creating and using their first pin hole camera and while I like the images, the process seems like a lot of work.

Well... Corbis has made it easier for me/you to embark on this voyage of discovery.  They are giving away templates and instructions for pin hole cameras.  Here is the link

I don't have time now (gotta file taxes, complete some house projects, yadda yadda ....) but soon!

Thought you all might find time for this stuff - looks like fun!

There is Something Great About a Learning Curve...

Today, I learned how to use a new cash register.  The woman who taught me the basics is 94 years old and believe me, I paid attention.  Learning is so much fun.

I learned a few more new things about photoshop too.  Here is a useful Photoshop article, "28 More Exceptionally Useful Photoshop Shortcuts."  I constantly use the Ctrl A (select all), Ctrl D (deselect) and Ctrl T (transform) commands - really saves time.  Enjoy!

Makes me wanna go, hmmmm...

"You can't have everything. Where would you put it?"
~ Steven Wright

Steven Wright always has the right pin to burst your bubble.

I suppose I would be happier if I were to spend more time being grateful for what I have, which is a lot, imho.  But, is it wrong to want it all?  Hmmm.
