Well, it has been about a month since I last posted a stitching update, so here it is.

I have gotten a lot done on Elegant Roses since I started stitching on it again on March 1. In fact, I finished all of the crosstitching on it last Friday, April 13. Here is a picture of the progress:

Since this picture was taken, I have finished approximately a third of the backstitching on it as well. The dark rose is done as well as the leaves around the outside of it and the leaves and stems below the smaller light rose to the right of the dark rose. I think the stitching on this piece is going to finish up fairly quickly.

In the meantime, I have decided to do a Stitch-A-Long (SAL) by Papillon Creations' Yvonne Horn called Around the World in 80 Stitches. Yvonne has this to say about the piece: "Each month we are featuring three or four speciality stitches or techniques which share their names with countries, areas or cities around the world, building a SAL with a truly international flavour. We will also include lots of other speciality stitches to add interest and diversity. Our world trip will take us 24 months to complete." There are two versions of it, a specialty stitch one and a crosstitch one, and it is a Mystery SAL with new sections being released once a month. You can find out more about it by joining up for Papillon's newletter at http://papillon-creations.com/newsletter_corner/newsletter_frame.php.

I have purchased some Antique White 24 ct Monaco evenweave to stitch this on. The color is more cream/yellow than Antique White, in my opinion, but it was really my only choice other than white from the rather slim offerings at Michaels. The closest Needlework Shop to me is two hours away and I don't tend to go there very often, so Michaels was my option. Anyway, I did an initial selection of colours before I got the pattern from Papillon. Here is a picture of them and my material:

I like these colours as a whole, but after getting the pattern and trying some of the colours together in pairs, I didn't feel as comfortable with them. So I selected some others. Here is that picture:

I am not that experienced or comfortable picking my own colours, so I would like to get your opinion on what you think of the colours. I know there are not necessarily any rights or wrongs when putting colours together, for the most part, but I would love some feedback on my selections.

BTW, I will be using DMC floss. The colours from the first picture are 161, 208, 433, 727, 3350, 3708, 3755, 3825, 3345, 3346, 3347. The colours in the second picture are 727 813, 826, 825, 961, 3350, 3733, 3825, 3345, 3346, 3347. If you can, leave a comment below on what you think, or send me an e-mail. Thanks in advance!

Lastly, I got a nice little present from my Mom when she and I went to celebrate Mom's birthday with three of her sisters just before Easter. Even though she did get some presents, she also gave presents to me and my three aunts. The presents were bouquets of Tulips. Here are a couple of pictures of the ones she gave me:

They lasted about a week and I really enjoyed having them in my apartment.

Thanks again, Mom!

Toodles for now!
