Heiss - kuehl - heiss ...
Heute waren wir mal wieder auf dem Clingmans Dome, um der Hitze hier im Tal etwas zu entkommen. Bei 33°C sind wir losgefahren, oben waren dann erfrischende 18°, und zu Hause zurueck sind es heute Abend wieder stickige 31°.
Rain * Regen
Leider sind wir oben auf dem Berg auch heute wieder in einen heftigen Regenschauer gekommen - aber zum Glueck erst, nachdem ich bereits eine Speicherkarte mit Bumen-Makros voll hatte, und wir unser Picknick gerade verzehrt hatten. Die Stuehle konnten wir dann wegen des Regens erst zu Hause wieder ordentlich zusammen packen, aber das ist ja egal.
Oben auf dem Berg konnten (wollten) wir wegen des Regens nicht mal aussteigen, aber wir kennen die herrliche Aussicht ja zur Genuege. Ich war froh, dass wir hier nicht nur ein paar Tage Urlaub machen!
Smoky Mountains
Auf dem Rueckweg haben wir dann noch an ein paar Baechen angehalten, die alle total ausgetrocknet waren. Und endlich konnte ich auch mal die Smokies beim Rauchen filmen - gar nicht so einfach, weil es ja meist regnet, wenn sie am Schoensten "smoken"!
Es war jedenfalls wieder ein rundum schoener Tag.

Today we drove up to Clingmans Dome again, to escape the heat down here in the valley. We left the 91°F heat for a refreshing 64° up on the mountain and came back home to a muggy 89°.
Nice Temperature!
Unfortunately, today again we had some heavy rain showers up there, but only after I had filled a memory card with flower macros and our stomaches with the bagged picnic. On top of the mountain, we didn't even get out of the car, but we already know the awesome view, and since we are not only here for a few days, we can drive up there anytime again.
On the way back, we stopped at several creeks along the road, but they were all dried out. I have never seen the mountain creeks THAT dry before! And finally I could take some videos of the smokin' Smokies - not an easy task, as it usually still rains when they are skoking the most.
The creeks are bone dry!
All together, it was another fine day in the park.
