How do you geotag?

Saturday August 4, 2007 at 06:37PM

Any fancy solutions like a GPS enabled camera? Or just drag and drop in google maps? I am currently experimenting with carrying a GPS and later correlate the track to the images, but I have not yet found a satisfying solution (mostly my GPS sucks...)

I used to drag & drop the pictures onto the map, but 2 weeks ago I got myself a GPS logger (Wintec WBT201), which has worked fine for me so far. The software that goes along with it sucks badly, though, so I've tried several alternatives for actually matching the photos to the tracks. There's a good explanation and description of available software on http://www.kowoma.de/gps/spiele/geotagging/geotagging.htm (German language). So far GPS-Track-Analyse.NET worked best for me.
I'll post a GoogleEarth file generated that way so you can have a look.

Hi Nils,
having now a Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx it's a new experience to geotag photos much more easier. I also use GPS Track Analyse, like Tr1stero.
