Digitising (updated)

Tuesday July 31, 2007 at 09:35PM

Viana do Castelo
Viana do Castelo

I tried to digitise the slides I took in 1998 in Portugal using an old slide projector and my digital SLR to directly photograph the slides.

It went quite well, most of the time the automatic white balance etc worked. Some needed manual treatment. I am not yet sure if it is actually faster than using a slide scanner. I will post the same images digitised with a slide scanner soon.

Nils Pickertpro replies:
I have got a Nikon CoolScan II Minolta ScanDual II, which is quite good and used to work under Linux. I also scanned stuff some years ago with the one at the computing centre of my university, but I have no clue what scanner it was. I will also try a more recent Nikon as soon as a friend of mine has completed moving houses...

A complete review will follow :-)
