  • A change of plan

    - 22 Apr 2020 - 5 comments
My idea for today was an early morning stroll before mowing the front lawns. I started by brewing a coffee but on going to the fridge I noticed I was very low on cow juice. As I have no chocolate in the house and very low on honey Idecided an emergency shop was eeded instead of the walk.. I picked up the cow juice and honey and wandered to the yummy shelves. I found 4 Belgian chocolate eclairs with English cream. good enough to quell my choccy cravings Back home I had somoked bakon buns before s…

  • A morning stroll

    - 20 Apr 2020 - 3 comments
I was out early this morning down to the little woods and the gorse field.I only saw one man walking a dog going up there and a cyclist as I headed home .I walked to edge of the gorse firld to see what was going on on the beach. The answer was nothing, not a soul in sight looking up and down. The tide was covering the sand so I guess the dog walkers will appear later. Back home it was into t shirt and shorts and a lazy day in the garden. photos here

    - 18 Apr 2020 - 4 comments
After writing yesterday about 3 days of tee shirt and shorts being the things to wear today the promised change came, A cold breeze and cloudy sky put paid to the sun workship for a while. I took a couple of shots of the blossom in John's garden Later on I spotted a bloom on the Mimulus blotch, Good going there was no sign yesterday. Hopefully it means plenty of colour from 2 planters.

Today is day three of good sunny weather and 20c temps in my garden.tee shirt and shorts again. I mowed the right hand top section of the back garden then came in for in a coffee just as Ellen appeared with my shopping. Having just readied my 4 empty planters in case she had foundsome.. Sadly no plants available. Never mind with the nursery outlets mostly closed plants are scarce. After lunch back out again and I mowed the bottom right hand section. The left hand section needed strimming so I…

  • Garden coming together

    - 13 Apr 2020 - 4 comments
Today I finished strimming the back garden left hand side. Now it's just a stroll round the garden behind the mower every week because of how fast the grass grows here, I sat out with a cold beer with the cats when I finished, they appeared as soon as the noise stopped.Around 5 I came in to cook lamb chops with roast potatoes, sprouts and oniion gravy only to discover I had forgotten to take the lamb out of the freezer. Battered chicken was all I had that would cook from frozen so chicken and ch…

Better than yesterday that is. I just lounged about the only actifity was feeding the cats and myself. Today I was back to my chirpy happy self. I looked forward to getting back into the garden and Ellen bringing my shopping. After a couple of bacon butties for breakfast I went out into the front garden to take stock of wha…

After a recent back proplem and rain today was perfect for starting to knock the garden into shape again. So after doing a few chores and having an early lunch I set off to get the first strim on the remaining section of the back garden, after an hour or so with no twinges to my fragile back the job was done. All being well tomorrow I will give the front grass a cut in the morning and get one section of the back mowed. I really enjoyed getting out there today,it was tough going but very satis…

After my dodgy back followed by very cold weather I have been pretty much cabined up for a few days. My children are looking after most of my shopping but under my instructions to only ask if I need anything when they go shopping. I awake anywhere between 6 and 8 am,always bright as a button and raring to go. This morning I awoke a little after 6 determined to make a break for freedom. After sorting the cats breakfast I donned a warm coathat, scarf and gloves picked up my backpack and headed…

Today was a glorious sunny day, perfect for more gardening This morning I raked all the grass up in the front garden and did some more tidying in the borders. This afternoon with a warm sun on my back I strimmed the smaller sectioh of the back garden and noticed a bramble had invaded the gooseberry busg so set about that. With my back starting to stiffen up I downed tools grabbed a chair and a cold beer and relaxed for an hour or so.Tomorrow if the back holds up I will start on the largest…

  • A new beginning on the shopping front

    - 07 Mar 2020 - 4 comments
Today was the first run with the shopping trolley and it was a resounding success. In B&M and Herons I just parked the trolley behind the tills while I shopped and it was a simple job to load up,much quicker and easier than bags. I bought a sturdy trolley with big wheels so kerbs were no problem and unloading was just as easy. So all in all a good buy not least because it was a pain free shop and that is worth any amount of money

  • The slope into old age

    - 04 Mar 2020 - 4 comments
As from Saturday last the slope became a little steeper, On my Saturday shopping trip I ended up with A sports bag over my shoulder and a large bag for life in each hand. From Saturday until Monday I spent most of the time in pain from my dodgy back. A change was needed and I did not want to lose the freedom of a morning out Shopping to go back to on line so I bit the bullet and ordered a large shopping trolley which arrived today. It is plenty big enough and looks sturdy enough for all my…

    - 24 Feb 2020 - 4 comments
This month has given us some brutal spells of weather from mosoon style rain through to hailstorms,.gales and fog. Today thevweather Gods completed the set. When I looked out of my bedroom window iaround 6:45 I was greeted by snow, not the dry powdery snow some folk get, ours is wet and horrible. The rain came along later and thankfully washed it all away leaving us with a wet miserable day.Roll on Spring if we get one
