Some old music from my country

Tuesday August 25, 2009 at 12:28AM

Romanian folklore ... I remembered some old scores in my library .. They belonged to my great grandfathers ... Scores were printed around 1900 ... I was curious what of those notes. Scores were only piano so I had some work ... and here the result .. means a lot to me because I somehow give life to those notes. Seems a collage of traditional Romanian songs, I think is called Pastoral Romanian .. Anyway, I hope to have the patience to listen and to passing over my inexpert orchestration. The real Romanian folklore is not playing it.. "right" ... but I have done what I could, using my old Roland Xp-50 workstation.

other songs from these scores are here..

I don't know to read music, so I'm allways admiring who does it.

I really enjoy what you did in the pastorala romana.
And do you know what I almost love in Romanian Folklore ? the employement of the bass clarinet.

(I had a roland D50... my best keyboards.)

I do not like to read notes or write them .. I like just to play sometimes, to improvise something, I am not a composer or an great performer .. I just passing through music to somewhere...somewhere in the past or future.

In Romanian folk music, music played by a "taraf"-(a small traditional band), is not used very often bass clarinet, but in symphony orchestras do. Here exists traditional instruments (like "caval") there sounds like bass clarinet, and they are imitated by the bass clarinet in the transcripts for large orchestras.

is a really deep sound...

Thank you Valserine... for patience..

merci Marius for your explanations. So that's the sound of the caval that I love !
I knew this name of taraf, because I really appreciate Taraf Of Haïdouks.
