My favorites - Oktoberfest

Sunday October 7, 2007 at 04:17PM

Last time I presented Munich in my blog. This time I would like to focus on a very specific Munich topic: Oktoberfest.

If you have never been there, you should go there at least once in a lifetime. If you are specially attracted to it, you are among one of two groups of people: Either you like drinking beer or you are just fascinated by the crowd, the many lights, the different smells,... You can see all kinds of people coming and going, you can see friendships coming an going, you can see the beginning of new relationships (how long will they last?) and you see them end.

After all it's life in a condensed form, fast and intensive (making you sometimes dizzy)

Here are my favorite Oktoberfest pictures:

First, there is a hughe construction site (from mangobird):

... when the rollercoaster is finished, it looks like that (diskostu):

There are a lot of lights whirling around (from mfr-photodesign):

from tschnitzlein:

another one from tschnitzlein:

... while Bavaria is watching the szene (mfr-photodesign):

Of course, Oktoberfest, that's beer (Lars Trebing):

But among all this, there are also quiet szenes (from Fuad):

... but not for long (from herbstkind):

Yes, and there are these special encounters (tschnitzlein):

That's, what Timo wrote about this picture:

"There was loud Boogie-Woogie music playing, and many people were dancing. This couple had been dancing particularly elegantly. When the man realized I had photographed him and his partner, he came to me and and thanked me for taking pictures in broad Bavarian. He proudly told me he had recently won the Boogie-Woogie dancing world championship."

A spectator (from herbstkind):

Today, Oktoberfest is over for this year.

Thanks for the feature. :)

I enjoyed my last Oktoberfest evening tonight with a friend. On my way home, a stranger addressed me: “Wie gehts?” – “Gut.” – “Woan’s aa af der Wiesn?” – “Ja.” – “Wie oft?” – “Dieses Jahr?” – “Ja.” – “Dreimal.” – “So is guad.”

(Translation: “How are you?” – “Fine.” – “Have you been to Oktoberfest, too?” – “Yes.” – “How many times?” – “You mean, this year?” – “Yes.” – “Three times.” – “That’s good.”
