Dear Ipernity fellows, JUNICHIRO TANIZAKI , (24 July 1886 – 30 July 1965) was one of the major writers of modern Japanese literature. Some of his works present a shocking world of sexuality and erotic obsessions; others, less sensational, portray the family life in the context of the changes in 20th-century Japanese society. In his famous essay “In Praise of Shadows” he expressed his nostalgic love for the Japanese traditions. Comparisons of light with darkness are used…

The Universe with its unstoppable gravitational process of concentration was uniting millions of galaxies and black holes, all the matter and energy, all the space and all the time in a "singularity" of immeasurable density. At the end of inflation the universe began to cool and the vast amount of energy began to stabilize. The material of the Universe were like a quark-gluon plasma, where all the parties constituting this were in relativistic motion. Quarks and gluons combined into baryons…

  • LA GRAN SABANA (Venezuela)

One of the most amazing experiences I've had in my life has been visiting the Gran Sabana (English: The Great Savannah) one of the major natural attractions not only in Venezuela but in the world. This paradise is located approximately 1,400 km from Caracas, in the south of Bolívar State on a land belonging to the Quaternary period, the only one existing today in our planet Earth. The area has a tropical humid climate with an average temperature of 28 °C, but at night it can go down to 13 °C. The Gran Sabana lies on a plateau with a mean altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level and is dotted with huge table-top mountains called "tepuis", which rise dramatically from the surrounding plains. Mount Roraima is the tallest of the tepuis at 2,810 meters above sea level. It also marks the triple border point for Venezuela, Brazil and Guyana. The most important town in the region is Santa Elena de Uairen, the municipal capital, which is 5 km. from the Venezuelan-Brazilian border. It has a population of 12,000 inhabitants. The region is inhabited by several indigenous groups, including the tribe "Pemon", who are the most numerous. The Canaima National Park, encompasses most of the Gran Sabana but the areas do not exactly match. In 1975 the Canaima National Park was extended from the original 10,000 km² to 30,000 km², making it the sixth largest national park in the world. The main attractions for visitors to the region are the Angel Falls, the world's highest waterfall, Mount Roraima, the mountain which inspired Arthur Conan Doyle's 1912 novel The Lost World, and the many other mountains and waterfalls. The recent Disney film "UP" was inspired by this natural and amazing world monument. Having said this, it's a pleasure for me to invite you to see the short video I made with some of my pics in combination with the beautiful music of Philip Glass, and if you like it do not hesitate in inviting your friends. Enjoy! .
